Hi! I'm also due in May (17th) with first baby and am in Thames Ditton. I'd love to meet some local mums to be too. When's your due date?

Hi

That is near Surbiton right? I am due 1st May. When are you going on maternity leave?

And have you been to any antenatal classes yet?

Near Surbiton/Hampton Court. I'm starting antenatal classes at my GP surgery at 29weeks. Have you? Are you booked into Kingston?

I had the option of Kingston Hospital but i live literally next door to West Mid Hospital and it is 2 minute walk there.

I have my antenatal class (all day 10 to 4pm) booked in Hounslow Health Centre on 15th March, which i am not particularly looking forward to considering the type of audience that will be attending.(don't mean to be a snob!).

I was looking at the NCT antenatal classes available in Kew and Twickenham but not sure whether it will be worth booking or not. A work colleague of mine had attended these in addition to the NHS classes and said they were worth the extra cost.

The only main reason to booking these would be to make some friends as I am absolutely dreading maternity leave (not the baby) as I am so used to keeping busy.

I am still debating on whether to do these or not....i better think quick otherwise they will be booked up.

i live in twickeham, DDs are not 5 and 4 though. DEF do the NCT classes in your local area. they are totally different to the hospital classes, which though useful, are more informational than discussion iykwim.

i am still great friends with my NCT group. didn't even share details at the hospital group (not just me, no one did i don't think!)

DD= dear daughter, or darling daughter, i don't know! DD1 = 1st daughter
dh = husband
dp = partner
etc...

it's a great site. so useful when you have your baby so stick around.

i registered with Twickenham NCT but had classes in Hampton. of the 6 of us we were based
me Twickenham, one teddington, two Hampton Hill, one Brentford, one Sunbury. so a bit of a mix. I think i was quite late registering and lucky to get a place so get a move on!

Hi LadyRed,

you sound like you're just around the corner from me - i live about 5 minutes from West Midd and am due on the 3rd of May!

We're booked into NCT in St Margarets - the course starts on the 3rd of May. I'd really suggest booking in on a course as it'll give you links to other people in the same situation as you. The contacts you make will be the most expensive phone numbers ever, but others swear its worth it...

BTW i'm 32 and this is baby #1!

I'm booked in for the Kew antenatal classes starting Thurs 11th March (I'm due on 4th May at Kingston) - if there are no places left in Twickenham, give this neck of the woods a try. evening class are at the church on Kew Green and day classes (mums only) are on the same road as Kew Retail Park.

if you start feeling a bit isolated, you should head to the little village here in Kew - it's like some sort of baby/Bugaboo/yuppy yummy mummy explosion! ha ha!

I don't have anything to add about antenatal classes as I'm not doing them (on second pregnancy and hopefully know what to expect), but I do live in St Margarets (Isleworth end) and looking to meet other mums in the area. There is another thread in meet ups and there are a number of us meeting this Friday for a coffee if anyone wants to join us? My second son is due on 8th April and I already have a 2 year old. Good luck with your pregnancies!

Hi All

East end mummy - Thanks for the advice, it would be great to meet up however I am not in London at the moment.

I tried to call the Twickenham NCT but noone was picking up and was considering the Kew NCT classes.

Londonllama - did you book those classes through the NCT?

Lotuspalm - I can't see any classes for St Margarets, is the NCT also?

Londonllama - I have just spotted the Kew classes on the NCT site, it does not quote the price or whether this includes the breastfeeding and postnatal meet up class?

It also does not say where it will be held? Would you be able to give me an idea if you dont mind me asking?
