You just wake up the day you will give birth and find baby drops then - for me anyway! Good luck

Erinsmom ....I've had four and bumps don't always drop so dramatically with subsequents. Head doesn't always engage cos there's generally more room to spare in the womb. Must be hot work being heavily pregnant in this heat. All the best.

I'm 35 weeks with no. 3 - no.2 "dropped" before the birth, and this one has already dropped considerably. At my antenatal check last week the mw told me that it was 1/5 engaged already, and it's definitely more than that now.

With subsequent pregnancies the uterus and muscles are more "stretched" and therefore there is more "give" - so likely to drop more and earlier than before.

Actually that's a good point spidermama - just because there is more room it doesn't mean the baby will use the bit at the bottom

I'm 36 weeks and saw my consultant yesterday, who said that the baby is dipping in and out of my pelvis but subsequents don't usually engage until you are in labour.
Good luck!
