Late term swelling tips?

Anyone have any tips for dealing with swelling in late term? For example, badly swollen feet. Anything in addition to drinking a lot of water and keeping them elevated? They are slightly painful to walk about on and sometimes sore if I bump them unexpectedly. Is there a danger of circulation being cut off? Sometimes they are tingly. Apprently it is just swelling and not indicative of anything worse.

Also, any tips for other problems with retention such as the constantly blocked nose and ears?

Hi Roseberry

Sounds like you have similiar problems to me swollen feet, achy ears and blocked nose.

I really found that elevating my feet worked, I'm taking a decongestant for my nose - but my ears (particulaly the right) really aches especially first thing in the morning.

Think all pregnanat women get feet swelling - the weather dosn't help. Have you spoken to your midwife.

Cheers
Helen

An old wives tale is to wrap your feet in a bandage with ivy leafs for an hour...

Someone gave me a good tip as I am having swollen ankles too- lie flat on the floor with your legs at right angles up a wall. Apparently it's a model's tip to make sure you have skinny legs on the catwalk. However, they didn't take into consideration that we have huge stomachs and that once you get down on the floor, you may never get up again....
I have been soaking my feet in cold water and keeping them raised up (especially around dinner-time to ensure maximum fuss made over you) and have found that those cooling leg gels have helped also. (I was given a Sanctuary spray for Mums to be from Sainsburys at the weekend and it's lovely)
Not long now for us though! Hope you are OK otherwise.

I thought you meant your tips were swelling. I was wondering 'tips of what?'

Thanks, I think I'll try the cold water thing. But I don't think lying flat at this point is possible!

Oh and it's pretty much the tips of everything that are swollen - I mean, if there is a tip, it's swollen. Heck even if there isn't a tip, it's swollen. Went out to the garden and my neighbour says to me oh you look so puffy I bet you go tonight, you are even more puffy than yesterday. Just what you want to here. Someone stick a pin in me, I am done!
