I'm not a medical person, but I did look at what I could take when we went abroad just in case, and there wasn't anything.

Although hard boiled eggs are supposed to 'firm up' diarrhea. You could ask your pharmacist (about medicine, they'd prob not know about the egg thing lol)

I don't think there is much you can take (I know you can't have immodium for example). I know you can take rehydration salts though, which might be an idea to stop getting dehydrated. Worth having a chat with your pharmacist though.

I'm in the same situation - there's not much you can officially safely take although might be worth chatting to the pharmacist about which remedies don't contain salacylic (sp?) acid etc.

FWIW, I'm riding this out with plain toast and skimmed milk porridge...but feeling terrible and praying its a bug rather than a pg sympton that's going to continue....

Me too!

Had it last PG too. Ive been fine up to now though (36 weeks) and DH & DS have slightly upset systems too so im hoping it's a bug im just getting worse because of PG.

Ive been taking pro biotics (capsules) this time to avoid last PG symptoms that lasted 2 months at end of PG along with awful thrush. Apparently the two can be related, candida in the vagina and gut due to PG hormones. Has worked.

Ive been so much better this time so I am thinking (hoping) it's a bug as it's just came on today.

Try probiotics anyway, they are good for PG.

Don't take anything. When I had a nasty bug DH went to the pharmacy and explained I was breastfeeding (not the same thing I know, but the reasons not to take the same). He sold him something that clearly said not to be taken when pregnant/breastfeeding - just as well I checked and one that said consult doctor.

I phoned the doctor who said the best thing to do is to let it flush whatever it is out of your system. Drink lots of water and avoid dairy for the next few days (it makes the mucous (sp??) lining thicker in the gut and can make tummy bugs/food poisoning worse). She said they never recommend taking anything like that when pregnant or breastfeeding.

If symptoms last more than 24 hours or you have diarrohea continuously for more than 3 hours you should phone the doctor.

Hope you feel better really soon!

Eat dry toast, bananas and freshly cooked rice. Don't eat anything else. Don't drink anything apart from water.

You've all got me worried now - do you mean don't take probiotics??

Someone just told me boiled potatoes help.

I had chronic diarrhoea when PG, went on for weeks.

I ended up in hospital with high blood pressure and was told by the consultant that diarrhoea can just be something that comes with pregnancy I was prescribed codeine phosphate but it didn't really help much.

If I were you I would make a GP or midwife appt and see if they can do anything for you. Its bloody miserable having a dodgy tummy all the time.

Hi sorry you're feeling so pants.....
I had the runs when on hols in egypt at 15 weeks and no immodium or anything useful was allowed - however googled it and stuck to the Bananas, plain rice and dry toast diet which helped also added some plain live yogurt which is good.... This diet Did make my "motions" go green tho - that was quite alarming!!!
Hope you're better soon xx

Have had diaorhhea too - have found bananas to be really "firming". MIL recommends dry cream crackers and to avoid anything dairy.

Hope this helps!

Bananas is a great idea, we always have loads for dd so I will start eating those.

The annoying thing last time was that it went as soon as I had had dd - Just when you need a bit of help in that department
