Pregnancy

3 miscarriages and pregnant again HELPP!

DaniJade1990 · 25/11/2009 17:16

I found out I was pregnant again a few days ago! I am so frightened as I have had 3 recurrent miscarriages (non of my pregnancys have ended well). I feel so scared as I really want this now and I dont want to have to go through it all again I dont know how I would cope. I was wondering if anyone had any success stories (3 miscarriages then went on to have a healthy baby) to lift my mood. I have a scan in the morning.
Also before i found out i was pregnant i'd had a few drinks and been smoking which is worrying me even more! I have stopped now though.
Any advice/stories would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you x

I am sorry I don't have any advice. Just wanted to answer your post.

People DO go on to have sucessful pgs after recurrent mcs and smoking/drinking will not be a problem at all.

This story came up on the mc thread recently

so anything is possible!

Take a breath - congrats on your BFP
Hope the scan goes well and keeping it all crossed for you xx

Dani -- I completely empathise with the extreme anxiety that accompanies pregnancy after miscarriage.

I have had two miscarriages and am now 20 weeks pregnant. I have a close family friend who had three and then went on to have two heathy pregnancies -- so it is abolutely possible!

Did you ever have any investigations done after your third loss? I had tests done privately after my second which signalled I had clotting issues in pregnancy. However, my friend never found a reason for hers.

Best of luck with your scan......I had several private reassurance scans in the early weeks as I was so terrified and I really believe they helped me immensly to get through the early stages.

Sending you loads of positive sticky vibes....

Thanks for all replies.
I had a consultation through the NHS about having tests done, however they said they couldn't do them as when I had my first miscarriage I was only 16 and as it happened at home I didnt seek medical advice or go to a doctors or anything. So to the them, as a pregnancy test never confirmed my first pregnancy I only had two :S quite ridiculous I know. I dont know what it could be but I have read that the more miscarriages you have the more likely you are to have more. I am going out of my mind is awful! Thanks for the messages they really do help x

DaniJade1990- I too can empathise with your worries. I had my first daughter with no troubles then I went onto to have six recurrent miscarriages. I ended up going to St. Mary's recurent miscarriage clinic in London and I am very happy to say I went onto to have another healthy baby. I can say
amazing things do happen. I am now 6 weeks pregnant again and following the previous advice of St.Mary's and hoping all is ok. I have an early scan next week. I will keep all fingers crossed for you and send you lots of luck for tomorrow. Let us know how you get onx

Well just to let everyone know, I had my scan today. Baby measured at 6 weeks and there was a heartbeat. Sonographer said everything looks fine. I am feeling better as in all of my previous pregnancies I have never seen a heartbeat, however I'm not going to feel too optimistic until I get past the 12 weeks point!

Dani - So sorry for your m/cs and I can fully understand the worry you will be feeling atm. I had DD with no issues and then went onto have 3 recurring m/cs, had all the usual tests carried out at the hospital but no reason could be found. We decided to give it one more go and I am happy to say I am now 34 weeks preg this time so it can happen. Congratulations on the hb at the scan today, FWIW we didn't see a hb with any of the m/cs so I would say it's a very positive sign. Good luck xx.

Congratulations, Dani, on today's scan result!

Just wanted to add a positive story for the record: I had 3 early MCs, then DS1, DS2, further MC, DS3, and am currently expecting DS4 . A reason for my losses was never found.

As the saying goes: it can happen to you! Very best of luck to you and your little bean. Hope this one will turn out to be a sticky one .

I had DD1, two MC six months apart, then nothing at all for 5 years. Got used to not having another one, then got preg out of the blue.

You have to accept that you're going worry you might lose the baby, I saw it as trying to protect myself from the pain of losing the other two pregnancies. I was always thinking I couldn't possibly be lucky enough to have another baby, and still do even though I'm now nearly 35 weeks!

There's no reason whatsoever why you should MC again, they generally aren't predictive of having, or not having a baby. Horrible as it is, you'll just have to take it one day at a time. I really hope it all goes well for you

dani congrats on the scan great news! I know how hard it is, i had 2 mc last year and i am now 2 days overdue and waiting for bubba to decide to put in an appearence! You will very soon have so much more to think about you will slowly stop worrying as much....i no it feels like you wont now but you will, i was desperate to get to 12 weeks but once you do (and i mean this in a good way) You then have other stuff you start worrying about, thats the what happens though when you become or about to become a parent, worrying comes with it! Im een worrying now about being overdue!

Its also really hard to enjoy your pregnancy, ive not enjoyed mine and its felt like the longest preg in history! everything that could have gone wrong feels like it has and i just cant wait now to hold my baby but i keep telling myself that im sooooooooo lucky, however crap and sad or down or worried i feel it will all be over eventually and there are still so many out there who are still struggling to fall pregnant.

So all i can say to you is just try and not worry and look forward to whats to come, i tried to plan somthing every month to take my mind of the pregnacy and make it seem like it was flying by! I know with a due date in 2010 it will seem like you got ages to go though.

Hope this thread as helped you a little and good luck!

Hi Dani

Congratulations on your scan

I had a healthy pregnancy 9 years ago but had an early MC in 2005 then an ectopic in 2008 followed by another early MC in March this year. I am now 24 weeks PG I was very nervous in the early stages of this one as I just assumed it would happen again as they couldn't really find a reason for the previous losses. It was such a huge relief to get the 12 week stage and see my little one at the scan.

Just try and keep thinking positive and I'm sure this time next year you'll have a little bundle of joy in your arms

My SIL had 3 mc in a row and then went on on to have two healthy children.

Good luck! A heartbeat is a great sign.

Hi everyone, just thought I'd keep u all posted. Had a scan at 8 weeks yesterday, baby measuring 19mm growing perfectly nice strong heartbeat. However they discovered that I had a double womb, although the sonographer didnt seem worried, nor the doctor I have been looking on the internet and it seems that I can have many complications with having a double womb. Can anyone give me any information on it? Is it possible to have one removed? Thank you.

Also, on my scan report it also says "A anteverted bicornuate uterus with a 19mm fetal pole present" What does the anteverted bicornuate mean?
