Time between c-section and next pregnancy

We are looking to have our second baby as soon as we can after first. In terms of recovery from a cs, I can't remember if my obstetrician said that we couldn't try before 8 months or 10 months (or even possibly something else given my sleep deprived state at the 6 week follow up ). Is there a general rule?

My midwife did mention something to me after I had DS about time between and I can't remember what! Got pregnant 6 months after anyway and midwife and consultant have never mentioned anything.

You should - ideally leave a year minimum between pregnancies generally as this is how long it takes for your body to totally return to its pre pregnancy state. For a previous c/s the longer the better but as long as you had no complications with infection etc, a year is a reasonable minimum. Any earlier than that and the risk of uterine ruture increase, as there is no research on the specific risk available, this rick could be minimal or very significant, we just dont know.

Thanks - I think he must have said 10 months then (he did stress this was the absolute earliest) as we had trouble TTC the first time around (resorted to IUI) and my age is against us I guess...

I fell pregnant 8.5 months after a CS and got told off by the midwife! Am convinced though that nobody had mentioned a minimum time for it.
