this is a random one!

bought quinny buzz in spain and moved back to the uk so while we sorted ourselves out we had to store all of our stuff at partners families house and they smoke.
I wrapped every item of the quinny in bubble wrap but they seem to have taken it on themselves to rewrap everthing for some reason so the pram has arrived and now reeks of cigs.not happy

i know it is all hand wash but i cant get the seat cover off or the basic bit of the carricot like the hood etc.

how should i wash it??? do i sponge it or?
this prob sounds stupid but i dont have a clue what the best way to clean it would be
thanks

Mine was second hand, and I attached it with washing up liquid, detol and a garden hose. Sorted

Sponge bits that look spongable, wash down with soapy water plastic/metal bits (it's amazing how much they retain smell as well) and then febreeze the whole lot and leave it in shed/porch/spare room with windows open to let the stink of the febreeze wear off. I hope you have a few weeks until you need it as what it really needs is air getting to it.

thanks,ill give it a whirl!
all the parts that come off have the handwash symbol on yet in the booklet it says nothing about washing it just that when its raining you need to make sure the rain cover is on at all times to avoid water marks!! im confused!!

a mixture of bicarb of soda, a little vinegar and water - wipe all over, will remove lots of smells.

DOn't use febreze as it has loads of chemicals in it.

I second to air it

don't wach YET
just leave it outside/somewhere cool and breezy for a few weeks and see if that does the trick.

We were given an expensive vibrating bouncy seat by our neighbours, one big problem, it reeked of smoke!!
had to wash all the removable parts about 3/4 times then air for a few weeks to get the smell/chemicals out.
I agree frebreaze type stuff is full of chemicals and only really masks a smell. What you are really trying to remove more than anything is the chemicals from the fag smoke, not adding to it. The bicarb/vinegar tip should do the trick on the frame area, as well as airing.

Just to add to that, it really is horrible isn't it! My mum smokes roll ups, not quite as smelly but still really bad.

She brought round some baby clothes the other day she had carefully picked and bought for us - her first grand child, about the be born any day.
I could smell them before they came out the bag!! she had no idea because she is so used to it. She was saying I could take the clothes back if they weren't right, but I don't see how!

It just made me feel quite sad really. I'm toying with mentioning it to her, she will feel bad but it is important to me that my baby is not exposed to smoke or the chemicals from it.

My neice used to have this problem.
She would send her DS to stay with his dad friday night, Sunday he would come home, clothes, pram, baby would reek of smoke. Her ex still lives at home, he doesnt smoke but his mum and dad do. They say they dont smoke in the house when DN is there but they obviously do.

She would have to wash all his clothes, even if he hadnt worn them. Which was usual, as ex used to buy clothes and pjs and put him in them instead.

She would usually just air the pram which would be enough, but if your pram has been sitting in a smokey environment for a while, the smell might be ground in and need sponging down.
