Pregnancy

Feeling weird. Restless and achy. 33 weeks.

Title says it all really. I usually have no problem sleeping, but tonight can't seem to even sit still. Heartburn is bad and my belly, back and bits all have a weird achy feeling to them. I keep going to the loo (for both functions) and only producing tiny amounts. Baby very active.

Pretty normal pregnancy, apart from the fact that I have a planned section due to a particularly complex section last time. Also DD came at 36 weeks, so I'm starting to wonder if this could be the very beginning of premature labour again?

Oh, I've also been a lot more fragile emotionally for the last couple of days, and have started listing all the stuff the baby needs obsessively.

Can't believe I'm up at this time. I have a lecture at nine tomorrow, and will have to be on the bus by eight if I am to make it there on time in rush hour!

Argh. How can i get myself to sleep? I've had a bath and read a textbook, had some water and a snack, what else can I do? I tried lying in bed, but just had the uncontrollable urge to walk about the room and generally fidget.

I'm really itchy all over too. Somebody tell me it's nothing and I'm just building things up because it's late night!

Good god, I'm now more awake if anything!

Somebody reassure me! Anybody?

Right, bugger it, I'm just going to lie in bed in the dark and bore myself to sleep!

I could swear this child is having a disco in there! My belly looks possessed!

Aww, Lissy. Nothing really to say, but try and rest. What will happen if you miss the lecture? Can you get some notes from someone? I'd be really tempted to give it a miss - 33 weeks pregnant and on no sleep, you'll be feeling even worse later. Try and get some sleep.

I'm sure you're fine and just tired. See how you feel after a sleep. If you're still feeling awful tomorrow, you can always get yourself checked out.

I have a MW appointment in the afternoon anyway, so I will mention it to her then. I'm pretty confident i can miss the lecture without too many problems, it's just i don't want to do it too often as I will be asking for special treatment (ie time off and maybe essay extensions) when the baby arrives.

Thanks for replying, btw! I was feeling a bit neglected then!

Ahh, but no-one's going to begrudge you that. When I was at uni, people had essay extensions for all sorts of dumb reasons - having a baby is a very good reason

Have a cup of tea and settle yourself in bed. If you write off your lecture, you can just relax.

Are you still up? Still feeling odd?

I went up to bed, didn't really get any sleep though, I feel like a zombie today, and it doesn't help that the midwife made me go and have a blood test because of the itchyness. Meh.

Hello Lissy,

How strange, I've been almost identical to you lately, last week, sleep was all over the place, was teary and awful, and I was compulsively going through all the stored baby clothes washing and organising! Oh and yes, like you was achy and breaky.

(I am also itchy but mine is the bloody pregnancy rash that comes in the stretchmarks. It drives me batty.)

What is weirder is I am now nearly 35 weeks and almost the exact opposite. In the last 2 days my SPD seems to have DECREASED, I am almost euphoric at times, have more energy, it is really alarming to be be feeling this good!

I have no idea what is going on with us both. I had a mw appt today and she seemed to think everything was tickety boo, (no signs of labour or anything).

I hope your bloodtest comes back ok.
