Lost pregnancy bleeding just finished and now ovulation, any point in trying to conceive?

X-posted as I need some successful ttc-ers' advice please.

My lost pregnancy bleeding has stopped and I have just ovulated according to test I used. Time is of the essence due to my age (44) and strictly speaking, I know I should lay off sex for another week, but I don't want to miss this highly fertile time as took ages to conceive our last child. Plus I only ever manage to get pregnant at this time of year and it took nearly a year for my cycle to get right after mc between DC2 and DC3.

But, is there any point in trying to conceive if I have just been bleeding as there may not be anything there to implant into?

No lectures on giving my body a rest please, I have made up my mind!

I am now almost 19 weeks pregnant following concieving when ovulating straight after MMC at 10 weeks (no period in between). We started sex again 9 days after MMC and i was still bleeding a little then (something we needed for physical closeness but maybe wasnt the wisest!) so I'd say go for it. Had some scares in begining of this pregnancy but touch wood all has been fine so far.

However if you used an LH test please bear in mind that it maywell read positive because of residual HCG hormone in your system. Are you testing negative on HPT's?

Good luck!

Thanks Thandeka & congratulations on your pregnancy.

Sorry, not up to date with the terminology! I was using an ovulation test (LH test) and it was positive. Haven't used pregnancy test as know it would still test positive. What is HCG and HPT's (home preg test?).

Go for it!!
May of course not work (you know that, I know, just pointing out the obvious), but what have you got to lose??

Good luck and best wishes from another old more mature mother .

HCG is pregnancy hormone.
HPT is home pregnancy test.

Unfortunately if you are still testing positive for HCG it is likely your LH test is inaccurate. Only way to find out for sure is to take an HPT if negative then you are probably ovulating due to positive LH test. If positive then am afraid the LH test will have reacted to the HCG in your urine. www.peeonastick.com/opkhpt.html
explains it a bit better.

Any other ovulation signs? Mucus? cervix position? Temp?

Ah, didn't realise that [often wonder how I managed to have 3 children in the first place!]. Will test using preg test too.

I ovulated 26days after my MMC and bleeding stopped about 12-14days after (I lost sac same day as bleeding started so my MMC may have been faster than many). So I ovulated about 14 days after bleeding stopped which is about right for me.

If that helps give some idea of when you might ovulate.

Good luck!

Sorry to hear about your miscarriage, I had a miscarriage at the end of Feb, was ovulating a few weeks later and by mid March was pregnant again. Was terriefied of having another miscarriage as everyone had said to me that you need to wait but its your body. As long as you feel ok emotionally then why not? Im now 25 wweeks pregnant and (touch wood) have had no complications! Good luck!

Pink I've had 2 mc's & yes you must keep doing hpt's until you get a negative & then start on the opk's. While you still have hcg in your body you will get a false positive on an opk.

Good luck & go for it!

btw I'm became pregnant exactly 1 month after last mc & am currently 6+4!
