Go to your GP, Shell. Itching is very common at your stage of pregnancy but rarely it's something to do with your liver which needs sorting out asap. Hope all is well.

Shell - probably best to get it checked out by your midwife... There is a liver condition which causes itching which needs to get checked out (obstetric cholestasis) but I believe it mainly affects hands and feet, but best be on the safe side and get it ruled out because it can be dangerous

Otherwise, itching in pregnancy is common. I had it terribly on my legs toward to end of my pregnancy. Clarins energising lotion for tired legs really helped

Hi Shell - I am almost 30 weeks pregnant and I have experienced itchiness all over (except hands and feet) since week 16 and I can tell you its common! I was worried I might have had obstetric cholestasis but that was quickly ruled out with blood tests early on. The GP can give you some cream which helps to reduce the itchiness...great that you are getting it checked out but they say that obstetric cholestasis is mainly itchiness in the hands and feet. Good Luck!!

Standard liver function tests only take a day, so to be on the safe side, I'd phone up on Monday.

In the meantime, if you're at all concerned about either baby's movements, or if the itching gets worse, head down the hospital.
