what does cervix posterior, thick, soft uneffaced. Multips os. Head -2 mean?

39+3 weeks, and midwife has written this in my book.

It means that your baby isn't engaged and you cervix hasn't started to thin out (the first stage before it dilates). So you're unlikely to give birth tonight.

I have a posterior cervix too. Means your cervix points towards your back rather than being straight or front facing.

Doesn't really make much difference for your labour or birth, or didn't for me, slightly trickier for the midwife to find it to be able see how dilated you are and once baby is born for things like smears, just a bit trickier to find.

You might have to put your fists under your bum to raise hips whilst you're lying on the couch, anyone asked you to do that yet?

multips os means your cervix is a bit dilated, due to the fact you have had a baby before

head -2 means it is on it's way down,but not really engaged. have a look at 'stations of descent'

posterior , thick and uneffaced means your cervix is not ripe

an anterior , thin and effaced or 50 % effaced cervix is soft, forward facing and ripe. meaning labour could be imminent or an induction could be succesful. soft is good though!
