How likely is she to turn? I had a scan last week which showed she is breech, and I am pretty sure she still is. I know it is early days but I am worried she won't turn. Anyone else with a similar experience?

I'm in exactly the same boat as you. Also getting kicked in the cervix all night long!

I'll keep you company!!

Yes the kicks are so much more painful than they were with DS, who was never breech in the third trimester.

Before the scan, I was poking away at what I thought were feet and what was actually her head! I think the kicks to the cervix are revenge.

The doctor did say it didn't mean much at this stage as they turn a lot but I just get a feeling she is quite snug there!

I have to say this is a bit spooky. I had a very vivid dream last night that my DH wanted to call our baby Mogwai! I had no idea where the word came from until he informed me it was a Scottish band. I googled it and learnt it is also a Chinese word for demon?

If it helps to know my breech baby was pretty much in the same position from 24 weeks - she moved but didn't sumersault around, could always feel the head in my ribs- and was still firmly breeched when delivered by c-section at 39 weeks. I just had a gut feeling she was not for moving!

However, I was constantly assured that there was plenty of time to turn around the 33 week mark, just didn't happen for me - tried acupunture etc too.

Most babies will turn head down by 34 weeks, and...even more so by 36 weeks. A few ideas:

You could try a slant position. Lie on floor with legs on a chair and pillows under your hips. You can do this a few times a day for about 15-20 minutes. (maybe while you watch television). A variation is resting on your forearms and knees with bum in the air.

You can also check about seeing a chiropractor trained in the Webster Technique...designed to allow for baby to turn, although this is not a manipulation to baby at all.

"Baby Thunder"...sounds odd, but if it works it beats a c-section.... Baby can hear fairly well. If you have a shower nozzle that you can take down, hold it towards baby's head, the idea being they may move away from it. In the same token....play music very low on your pelvis, the thought being that baby may move down towards it.

Some people may consider an external version, where your midwife will manually try to turn baby on the outside. Works for some, not for others. Success has to do partly on baby's position, location of the placenta, and how much experience your midwife has doing them.

My baby is also breech and I am 33 weeks in 2 days.

He's been breech for at least 5-6 weeks and so am getting slightly worried myself because I too think he's just gotten comfortable.

I'm also worried as some sites say that a breech baby could mean that there are some underlying problems (i.e abnormal shaped pelvis, excessive amniotic fluid, abnormality in baby e.t.c) so am also paranoid about this.

I'm currently off work sick with SPD (symphasis pubis dysfunction) which means the front of my pelvis has slightly misaligned itself due to the over-softening of the ligament which holds the bones together so I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it??

I keep feeling him moving about quite strongly and each time I get my hopes up thinking that he's turning but then I feel a kick in my groin/bladder and a huge lump at the top of my abdomen (just under my ribs) and my hopes are shattered.

I know that everyone says that there is still time for him to turn but my instincts tell me he won't

My experience is pretty similar to beauty and the beast. DD was breech and this was picked up at 36 weeks by the GP but in hindsight and MHO she was probably in that position from 32 weeks.
We had a gender scan at 27weeks (ish) and she was in a similar feet down position then too.
I spoke to the midwife couple of weeks ago as I am pregnant again and said I thought she was stuck as I never felt big rippling movements or the feeling of her engaging and I am quite small 4''11 (I've written all these things down to keep them in mind this time) and she said I was probably right. I had an ecv too and she didn't move. It's worth a try if its offered at your hospital

(apologies if a bit long)
