Pinky/brown discharge at 32 weeks

I am 32 weeks pregnant and today I have had some pinky/brown discharge. I don't remember experiencing this until 39 weeks with my first pregnancy, when it was my mucus plug coming away and labour started a couple of days later.

Is this normal? Anyone else experienced this?

I think you would be well advised to phone your midwife or hospital for advice.

Hopefully all is well but it would be best to get it checked out imo.

i would call mw and check it out. Sometimes if the plug comes away it can re-seal so try not to panic. good luck

Hi again

Just phoned midwife at triage and she said that unless it is fresh blood and/or I have pain/contractions, it isn't anything to worry about. I have had movements from baby and brown usually means old blood. She advised me to rest and keep an eye on it. I can always phone back.

I was just thinking this morning that I hoped to goodness this baby isn't overdue as I already feel huge! However this is just a little too early. Be careful what you wish for!

I had this at 32 weeks and went straight to the hospital for a check at the maternal assessment unit. It was all fine and they said the same to me that it is only if it's bright red, painful and last for more than 24 hours that you need to get more concerned about it. I went on to have my lovely girl at 40+1 and it was the only bleed I had in the third trimester. I am now 29wks pregnant with 2nd and had the same type of bleed at 22 and 24 weeks and am having the baby in dubai this time where they check and double check everything. My OB GYN here said that it was probably either a fiberoid or a tiny tear in the placenta which was barely detectable on the scan. I was put on 'rest' so that any tear could heal... no carrying of heavy things and no running about for a week. Just take it easier than normal for a week if you can and I hope you don't see any more of the brownish or any coloured stuff.
