Hi, just wondering if anyone has any knowledge / experience of being diagnosed with one whilst pregnant? A friend has just had her first scan and was slightly freaked to discover one bigger than her baby - waiting to see the consultant, so wondering if anyone had anything to reassure / inform her while she's waiting? Thank you

My cousin was found to have one and had it removed when she was 12 weeks - all was fine with both mum and baby. She had the whole ovary removed at the same time, and managed to conceive a 2nd dc with no problems after as well.

Good luck to your friend.

What sort of cyst is it and how big?

I had a 'simple' cyst diagnosed at 6 week scan that gradually got smaller and was gone by 20 week scan. I think it was about 3cm diameter. No-one seemed to think that this was a problem at all (once the sonographer woman had decided that this was definitely what it was).

With a simple cyst I think it's only a problem if it is either enormous or grows during the pregnancy.

I had one seen at 7 weeks, it was the size of an orange (so MUCH bigger than the baby!) it was monitored at each scan and had pretty much disappeared by 20 weeks.
i think they are fairly common.
