When did I get pregnant

Hi, can anyone help?

I've just (3 days ago) discovered I'm pregnant. The indicator says "pregnant 3+", and this is going to sound ridiculous but.... I honestly cannot remember when my last period was . I've never been regular and spent the last few weeks ill with colds and infections, which made me think maybe the antiobiotics etc had affected my cycle.

I'm not due to see my GP for another couple of days and all the web sites I look at seem to say that the only way to find out how far along I am is by my last period. Is there another way for my GP/nurse to check?

Apologies if this sounds really dumb
Emmee

I think the only way to tell is to do a dating scan when you think you're roughly 7 weeks (but I'm happy to be corrected if I'm wrong )

Im in the same situation, the DR felt my belly an said all he can determine is that im not 12 weeks or more. I went for a booking appointment and they said I would be rushed through for a scan, but not heard nothing a week later so im still waiting. So I guess you will have the same treatment as me and you should get a early scan soon. Congrats

had this with dd, they did and internal (actally to determine if i was preg or not... long story) and the obgyn told me i was definitely no more than 6 weeks as she couldn't feel my uterus.

scan the next day put me at 9+4

so in answer to your question, nothing can tell as accurately as a scan by a long shot and even the scan has a 10% margin of error.

if it said 3 + then that means v v early days i think...

i presume that means 3 + weeks pregnant which is 1 + week after conception. so you would have fallen pregnant very recently

Which test did you use? The Clearblue digital ones have a conception indicator that offers you a choice of 1-2, 2-3 or 4+ I think, which indicates how many weeks past conception you are. So if you're testing a couple of days after you're period is due, and you have a fairly regular 28 cycle, then you usually get a 1-2 indicator, meaning you are 1-2 weeks post ovulation, ie roughly four weeks pregnant. If it's showing 3+ (and that means weeks past ovulation) then you are 5 weeks+ pregnant. I think.

Gosh thanks All I know is that whenever I've tested using clearblue digi I've usually been on cd 32 of a 28 day cycle, and I've always had a 1-2 on the conception indicator, which would be about right.

Thanks everybody . Feel better now I've asked . It was the ClearBlue digi that came up with 3+, so must be 5+. Guess I just wait for the scan now .....
Thanks again, really appreciate everyone's answers, especially at the moment when I can't tell anyone about it yet!

Haha - I got very tired at the start of my pg with people asking me what date my last period was. I never realised that they seem to expect that you plot it on your calendar

In the end some nurse at the EPU made up a date and I didn't have the strength to argue. I had my scan and the sonographer was like 'you're not as far on as you think'! Well that was hardly surprising. But don't worry about it - it's a very minor detail in the grand scheme of things.
