If anyone has thought of using a doula,I've been awarded some funding for mums-to-be who need extra support, and/or couldn't afford to use a private doula. Normal fees are from £300 upwards, but this would be completely free for the prgnancy, labour, birth & postnatal package.

Post up if you're interested or would like to find out more.
Thanks!

Hi ladybird,

I'm is SE18 so on the edge of Kent... Let me know if that's too far or if it's ok for you? I would love to have a doula especially for the support as my DS will be 20 months old when this little one is born... Thanks!

Hi Angel,

are you having a home or hospital birth? If hospital, which one?

Ladybird17 - I would love a home birth (my first baby came so quick that the midwife actually urged me to consider a home birth as she thinks I will not make it to the hospital in time for the second one...) but I don't trust the hospital midwives to be perfectly honest as I had a horrendous birth experience because they refused to believe I was in labour... So unless I have someone who is working on my behalf for my benefit, I just won't have the confidence to try a home birth.

If in hospital, it would be the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Woolwich. You can contact me on angelineradley at yahoo dot com if you like!

Hi ladybird,
I deal with a lot of young homeless/temp acc teenage soon to be mothers and would be very interested in discussing with you ways in which you may be able to help.
A lot of these girls have no or very little contact with their mothers, families or partners and may be open t the idea of some support. These girls are aged between 16 and 18.

Is this something you would consider?
