I know this is really silly but I'm feeling all hormonal and it has made me cry. . I have to chew minty gum at all times in order to vaguely curb the all day morning sickness. A couple of days ago I caught the side of my tongue whilst chewing and now have a sore lumpy bit there, and because it's lumpy I keep catching it and biting it again. It really hurts . It made me cry.

And.. I can't bear making dinner as I feel so sick but have two hungry dd's who are getting fed up with eating 'picnic' for tea. .

that's it really. just need someone to sympathise a bit. .

You have ALL my sympathy. I had miserable morning sickness until 16 weeks (made all the worse in the 13th to 16th week by everyone telling me "oh, I thought it was supposed to stop by week twelve" YES, IT IS. IT IS SUPPOSED TO STOP.)

My lowest ebb was being put on a drip and IV anti sickness medicine for 2 hours at hospital while DH "usefully" took photos of me on his phone because "baby will want to see this one day". And because I was all hooked up I couldn't give him a swift right hook to the jaw.

How many weeks are you?

11 weeks, things are admittedly better than they were a few weeks back so hoping it will improve still. Just worrying we're all getting into bad food habits because the smell of all veg, cooked or uncooked make me heave. Not good at all.

Verity, can't really complain when I hear how you have been, that is horrendous.

Much sympathy - I've been sick off and on all the way through this pg (not all day morning sickness though, don't panic) and it is horrible.

Have you any teething gel in the house? Might help with the sore bitten tongue if you can tolerate the taste.

I found lots of iced water with a slice of lemon was the only thing that held my nausea at bay. Ginger biscuits, pah!

I'm 21 weeks and have cooked proper meals about twice! lol. I'm living off jacket potatoes, beans on toast or things that I can take out of a box and chuck in the oven etc. I'm not even feeling sick anymore tho but just can't stand the thought of cooking...hmmm...maybe I'm just a lazy cow! lol

I had the same thing with veg - and to be honest, that hasn't changed even now (21 weeks) - I am usually a big fan of green, leafy veg, broccoli, even sprouts, but I have completely gone off it.

Instead, all I want to eat now is fruit - which I was never really into before I got pg.

The only thing that helped with my morning sickness was extra strong mints. I actually found half a packet in the bathroom cupboard this morning, and they still taste damned good!

I ate terribly for the first three months, cheesy mash, basically, and not a lot else. And I threw that up about three times a day (oh, and weetabix, because that tastes the same on the way up as on the way down...)

Baby is now a total wriggler, and the 20 week scan shows she's coming along just fine, so I wouldn't worry too much - baby takes whatever baby needs and it's just mum that's left feeling like crap.

Placenta is growing in the wrong place, but I don't think I can blame that on mash and weetabix.

Hi HangingbellyofBabylon- sorry to hear you're feeling so rotten. And biting your tongue is so so sore! I've done that a few times and I know just what you mean. Try putting Bongela on it - it'll slide off probably, but give it a go anyway! Also (if you can tolerate it) gargle with salted water to keep your tongue clean - just don't drink it!

As for your 2 kids - don't feel too bad. They will survive without a meat, veg & potatoes meal. My ds has been living a varied diet over the past 29 weeks - sometimes he gets a 'proper meal' and other times we get toast, cereal, pizza etc. he gets a meal in school so I'm not too worried. Provided he eats some fruit during the day. I also feel ill at times and food really doesn't appeal to me most of the time either.

So my top tips to feed your 2 dds (and I'm kind of assumming they are young ie around 5/6/7 and 2/3/4 years):
varied cereals - healthy types (eg shreddies) sometimes mixed with a treat type.
fruit - apples, bananas etc ready made food!
toast - with beans or cheese.
yoghurts
pizza or other lift-from-the-freezer-and-bung-in-the-oven food
tinned soup
plenty of milk
bacon sandwiches
boiled/scrambled/poached eggs or omlette

You have my full sympathy, as you know from your kind post on my thread I am feeling rotten too. And the tears - I cried because we didn't have any cheese the other day! It is horrible and so much harder with other kids to look after. Have you seen your GP - I've been to mine today and have been prescribed anti-nausea drugs and been signed off work for a week. Phew! I also have MIL coming to help with DD tomorrow - can you get family or friends to come over and help prepare some meals?
Hang on in there, at 11 weeks the end is in sight

I remember the only cure for sickness with me was a glass of v v v cold sparkling mineral water mixed with grapefruit juice!

I survived my pg by only eating crackers, dried fruit and the odd jacket spud. Couldn't fave any other food at all!

thanks everyone - it's good to know I'm not the only one eating crap - I normally love veg but at the moment can only tolerate fruit. I have seen my GP but obviously got one of the unsympathetic ones.. . With my first two pregnancies it really got better at around 13 weeks (although couldn't eat veg till about 25 weeks) so I'm going to try and hang in there. I'm going to try and get dh to help make a batch of bolognese sauce and maybe a casserole or something at the weekend so I can freeze it into small people sized portions. I resorted to spaghetti hoops and sausages today and tbh the smell was so vile, defrosting spag bol can't be worse!

Sorry to hear you are suffering. In my first trimester I really struggled cooking raw meat for my three kids, but of course you have to keep cooking for them even though you can't stand the thought of eating yourself. I don't suffer from morning sickness fortunately but did find food quite revolting so I can only imagine how much worse it is if you are actually sick. It does get better in most cases though so hang on in there!

I'm quite miserable myself at 14+3 and don't even have other kids to look after, so you have my full sympathy!! And if it makes you feel better, my diet is complete crap at the moment (when I can be bothered to eat anything).

Here's the majority of what I've eaten for last 6-8 weeks:

-Instant mash with piles of butter
-White bread (normally wouldn't touch it)
-Peanut butter & jam sandwiches
-Grapefruit
-Salt n'Vinegar or Prawn Cocktail crisps
-Cocoa Krispies (but stopped after being sick on them, they are FOUL on the way back up!)
-Spaghetti Hoops

I've managed to start cooking occasionally, but never want to eat any of it.

Hve also had the same problem with veg making me heave so have been using those steamfresh bung in the microwave for 2 mins bags for DS which I can just about cope with.
