Hi there! Hope someone can offer me a bit of guidance...

Am nearly 38 weeks with 3rd baby. In previous pregnancies, I was overdue & induced, waters broken, & babies never engaged etc until late labour.

I have noticed the last week that I'm getting REALLY sharp pains inside my bits (feels like my cervix area - quite high). Feels literally like someone sticking a hot poker up there (sorry!) and makes me jump! Any idea if this could be baby engaging? Have NO idea what it feels like, or even if you feel it!

Also had a small brown sticky loss yesterday (sorry tmi!) and my braxton hicks have tripled and gathered pace (v painful at times but still irregular)

I know being my third pg I should know all of this but I'm genuinely clueless I should also mention that I'm booked for a C Section in 2 weeks, so hope to god baby stays put til then!

Sorry if there are too many questions...I have pregnancy brain lol

Thanks a million! x

sorry i have no idea about the sharp pains. IME the head engaging is not sharp - more like a big beach ball between your legs, a dull ache or uncomfortable, not painful

why dont you call your MW and ask? just in case...?

good luck

I got these, was told it was the baby pressing on a nerve.

Thanks for your replies! Still having them on and off but seems worse when I stand or walk around. I'm seeing the midwife Thursday so I'll ask her then. Can see it now..."excuse me MW, can you explain why I have electric shock feelings in my fanjo please" (followed by odd looks from her! lol).

Its such an odd sensation...and I'm sure I amuse passers by when I suddenly yelp "OOOH!" as they wander past and keep a wide berth from me lol.

I do feel really daft even asking but I was more concerned that things were happening and I'm REALLY not ready yet....still have SOOOO much to do!

Any stranger who has been around a pregnant woman before will understand a yelping "OOOH!" from a heavily laden uterus!

clousing

electric shock is about right

i get it a lot late on - just a big beefy baby low down on nerves i think

the 'loss' sounds hopeful though and increasing bh...do you think you could be getting an early one?

Ooooeeeerrr Pillicock I hope its not an early one - I'm not organised!

I have had BH all day long and through the night but not all are painful so I suspect its just my knackered old womb trying to remember what to do!(well it has been 7 years lol) Mind you, I'm avoiding going out! Its more painful when I'm walking and sitting - especially in the car . Have already been nesting and had a MAJOR cookathon...did lots of yummy stews/pies/curries at once and they're all in the freezer! Eat your heart out Delia!

I wasn't sure about the loss as I thought a show was like snot with blood streaks (my god, glam being preggers innit!) and this was like a browny blob. Had no more but a MASSIVE increase of normal discharge (sorry tmi!).

Its a race against time to get to my C Section date before anything happens!

Its shameful that with my 3rd DC I don't even know what a show looks like !

Anyway...will make the most of the time before I swap my 11 year old DDs hormones for pooey nappies!

That was how my first labour began. Big, hot, burny, pains in the same place............ get ready quick!

And I'd say that is the beginnings of a show, it might not come to much more than that or it may get more frequent. Things are moving down there.

Coooorrrrrr frumpygrumpy imagine if something happened...poor DH would burst a blood vessel . He keeps saying everytime I have a strong BH: "shall I start the car" !

I just tell him he's jealous that his tummy'll never be as hard as mine (mid BH of course lol)

I had this from DD#2 - found out later was most likely caused by her having her hand above her head and putting pressure on my cervix. She was born late, despite a while of on off pains like this - born with one hand up over her head...nice!

Ouch beautifulgirls! I bet that stung a bit!

Bad positioning would be typical actually...obviously the awkward gene would come from DH though

As long as I'm able to hold on til the 9th I'll be satisfied...funny though, my friends have all gone from making bets over babys weight to bets over how soon I'll be in labour lovely! As long as they're kept busy - nevermind me sat here all round and pregnant....no really! haha

I love it really!
