QUICK POLL - Would you have a sweep Dec 23rd??

I have been in pain with SPD for weeks and theres a good chance I may be allowed a sweep tomorrow, baby has been fully engaged for 2 weeks which is not helping the pelvis situation.

Part of me is dying for one just to try and get her out ASAP.

The more sensible side is saying just try and get past christmas, but then will not see mid wife for 8 days after tomorrow so will have to suffer till at least next Wednesday if baby doesn't come along without sweep.

Will be 39+5 tomorrow.

I think not too, but I'm not sure I can be that strong if I am offered one in there!

I'm being induced on christmas eve due to obstetric cholestasis, but I desperately wanted to wait until after christmas, it just wasn't to be. Now i've got my head around it I'm quite excited about having a christmas baby.

I suppose it depends on how much pain you are in. If you're just going to be miserable over christmas, maybe best to try the sweep and see what happens.

I don't think it would make any difference to me what date it was tbh, especially if you're in pain. She's going to be born around Christmas anyway so whether it's the big day or three days after etc is by the by. I'd get it over with!

no guarantee sweep will work and then you will feel worse.

Not sure anything could make me feel worse

Will just wing it I think and see how the midwife is when I get there, will mention it and if she protests I'll just leave it but if she is willing I'll go for it.

Am just so curious to see if I am dialted at all!

Hmn, personally no. i had one at 40+1 and went into early labour the next day, then the day after went into active labour and she was born. That was 2 days for me so that would have meant xmas day if i'd have been you!

You never know - may not work. My midwife tried last week at 40+1 and couldn't reach cervix, said it wasn't ripe, too posterior etc - but at least she tried I suppose and it made me get used to the idea that the baby wasn't imminent.... however, now leaves me in the situation of having another sweep tomorrow possibly as Wed is only day they do clinic at the GP.....so Christmas baby potential... and like you I kind of think now, it might be worth waiting until after christmas. You could always get her to have a poke around and see what the cervix is like, even if she doesn't do a full on sweep. Just depends too on how much pain you are in too I guess. Good luck!
