What a day - two new things to worry about.

Saw midwife this morning at 33 weeks exactly.

Had to have blood tests for obstetric cholestasis. Then midwife decided I was small for 33 weeks so recommended I go for a growth scan. Thing is, I'm moving completely out of the area on Friday, going to a new midwife but not seeing her until 25th November, so won't be a referred for a growth scan for at least two weeks now.

Worried sick.

Should I make a big thing of maybe getting in for the scan before I move on Friday? Should I kick off when the midwife rings tomorrow with results of today's blood tests? How much difference will it make at this point to wait two weeks?

Hi there. There is a thread somewher here about OC. I'll dig it out for you.

I was diagnosed with it last week, at 37 weeks. When will you get a chance to discuss your blood resuklts with a midiwfe / doctor?

Re; the 'small for dates' thing. So many women are told this and with the vast majority everything is absolutely fine. They just want to be on the safe side. If I were you, I would push for a scan sooner - just to put your mind at rest. Tell the MW that, with possible multiple health problems, you are feeling incredibly anxious. If she is unsympathetic, ask to speak to a consultant.

Good luck. xx

re growth thing - do not panic - it depends on so many things, dont worry.

Thanks everyone. Just read the other OC thread.

My DP doesn't seem worried in the slightest about the growth thing - apparently (and I didn't remember midwife saying this until DP pointed it out) baby is showing signs of being just below the 50th centile, which doesn't give me cause for concern, I look after children for a job and know that they come in all shapes and sizes - and apparently I was a small baby, though I don't know how relevant that is.

It's the OC I'm most worried about. I showed high levels of bilirubin 5 years ago in tests I had when lots of sugar was found in my urine, and was tested for hepatitis, but all came back clear. I just put it down to too much partying and not enough sleep/ water/ fresh fruit and veg. I'm much more sensible than that now, but knowing I may be prone to liver irregularities just makes it that little bit more worrying. I've been poorly lately and sugar has again been found in my urine, but gestational diabetes has been ruled out, and a couple of weeks ago I had a horrendous stomach thing where I ended up on a drip severely dehydrated, so chances are I could be really run down.
