ok, this is seriously pathetic as i really should know better given this is my second pregnancy etc etc... but there you go. am 31 weeks tomorrow and since last week i have been having quite serious BH. by this i mean that i feel my tummy going all tense and tight and actually quite painful. this lasts about 15-30 seconds and can go on for up to an hour, usually late afternoon.

so first of all- does this pattern sound ok or should i get worried? seeing mw on wednesday and will mention, but do i need to call sooner?

however i have been starting to wonder whether this may not just be a case of phenomenally bad wind- it has been plaguing me for months now and it got to the stage where dh is threatening to go sleep in another room! it can get quite painful, too. but i should be able to distinguish, right, at least you'd think?

as an aside, if anyone has tips for wind- please please let me know...

Cant help you on the Braxton Hicks as i never had them with my pregnancies.

Re the wind though i find it helps(if painful) to kneel on all fours and stretch down as far as you can with bum in the air, lol.
Seems to ease it out

31 weeks also and having much stronger and regular BH's this time. Mentioned to MW at last visit and she said it's quite common to feel them earlier and more strongly second time around. Mine can also be quite painful, enough to stop me in my tracks. Don't think you have anything to worry about, but call MW if you're worried.

Can also sympathise with the wind, but mine has improved by itself in last few weeks.

Hope this helps

I had very strong BH contractions for second pregnancy from before 30 weeks - was convinced I was going into labour a few times

Have also wondered if my tightenings are wind or BH! 38+1 and 1st pg so nothing to compare it with. Not very painful unless I have eaten something that would normally cause wind when not pg - ie starchy things like bread and potatoes.
My tip for is to sip hot herb tea - cold drinks seem to make it worse. Also the kneeling on all fours thing. HTH

I had regular and uncomfortable BH around 30-32 weeks ten it seemed to pass. I still got them, just not as frequently. They were pretty similar to how you describe.

My MW did mention that dehydration could be a factor, so drink plenty of fluids...can't hurt!!

Ass for wind...bouncing on my exercise ball and a few squats usually got DH ducking for cover and some relief for me
