Does milk count towards your daily fluid intake? Craving it!

Following on from the thread about whether tea counts, does milk?

It's the only thing I want to drink at the moment, this afternoon alone I've downed about 1.5 litres since 4 oclock and know that I'm not going to be able to drink any other liquids as everything else makes me feel sick. (although I could easily do more milk ) Do you think it counts? Or should I still be trying to make myself drink more water based stuff?

Since no one has answered this yet, and I was curious I have looked this up. Apparently milk/juices/teas etc all hydrate you as well as water, but contain extra sugar/calcium etc. So it depends what kind of milk because if its full fat you may suffer from all those calories later.

Personally, I'd try to drink some water too, as it is so healthy. It helps me with my heartburn, my IBS and other things. And it will help baby with loads of things.

Perhaps the milk thing is a passing craving.
Check with your doc/midwife next time you see them, I am sure they'll encourage you to try and drink water too.

If you want an excuse to drink more milk though, I'd go with 'It's SO good for young bones'

can't see why not I think Its only stuff that has a diuretic effect that sort of cancels itself out. Drink what you fancy.

Yes I've been trying to drink water too but its just not the same- but you know what cravings are like you just have to have some. Walked to our local shop yesterday (only 10 mins away) to buy more, couldn't wait til I got home so v embarrasingly chugged a good pint in the street from a 2litre carton- what a sophisticated sort I am

Must try more with water!

Sounds a bit gross but could you not get the semi skimmed and mix it with a little water? It'd make your milk last longer and also you'd be getting some water too (in my mind that basically makes it skimmed, haha!)

I had the milk craving too, it didn't last for long but was costing me a fortune, the only trouble I found with drinking loads of milk was that it filled me up and then I didn't want to eat!!!
