If you are definitely nine days late and you have had two negative results then you are probably not pregnant - sorry. I don't know if you hope to be or not, but it doesn't seem to have happened this month.

Normally HCG levels are sufficient to be picked up within 10 - 14 days post ovulation. So if you are nine days late you are at least 19 days post ovulation, so yes it should show up if you are.

My friends mum took 5 at docs said she was negative-she found out she was pregnant at 5months-Its the not knowing as i have no reason y i should be this late

I was 86 days late one for no reason! I was pulling my hair out too thinking I was pregnant - but I wasnt!

I missed a period last year. Kept doing tests but they were all negative. Eventually I went to the doctor and he told me that you can occasionally miss periods for no particular reason!

Wish I'd known that earlier...

I agree with the last few posts. Once or twice a year my body thinks it is great fun to give me a 40-odd day long cycle. Prompting desperate counting back to see if we could have had an accident, and panic-buying of pregnancy tests!

There are hundreds of reasons as to why you could be missing a period. I went almost 3 years without periods and it was never really explained. They came back with a vengence too

I also find it very odd when people say they didn't know they were pregnant until they were 5 months - surely that woman must have had some signs but just choose to ignore them?

yeh it is bit weird-but some people dnt seem to get allot of the syptoms and seem to be pregnant-well i thought i mb on this morning as i seemed as it mb on it's way lol-so to speak but now its just nothing again-3 years gee aint that bit weird-yeh i suppose less hassle in a way-but the not knowing and stuff-y cnt it be simple if ure late its stress or pregnant and i aint stressed-well c how the weeks goes. I have a friend who never has a period in November.
Figure that one out.

daisy it depends on the test you used. Some are only calibrated to pick up certain levels of hormones and you can have very low HCG in some preganacies. If you have not had your period soon, like in a day or two I would get checked out more carefully as ectopic pregnancies have very low HCG and can be life threatening if they rupture. With my ectopic I had only the very faintest of lines that I could barely see but was still very much pregnant.

Get it checked out if there is no other possible cause for missing period and if you have any, unsual bleeding, pain or dizzyness.

Also the tests the doctors use are calibrated around a 100 parts hcg, try to get the most sensative test you can. With my last preg that was a m/c I had to take two positive tests into the docs before they would believe I was preg as their own came up negative.

hey daisy... I would say that by this point you probably are more stressed than you think - the whole 'what has happened to my period???' freak out can be enough to make sure that the little bugger doesn't turn up...

It's happened to me, and various friends, before - you're a few days late, your brain goes into overdrive, all that does is make you later!!!

Try and chill, if you think that you'll be happy either way then try and relax, you'll get an answer one way or the other soon

My cycle before last, lasted 71 days! I went to the doc's and got the same answer as you, useful bunch of GP's hey.

I've now read up loads on stuff about cycles on the net and have learnt a lot of stuff i didn't know.

No suggestions unfortunatley I could tell you to relax but know myself that its damn near impossible.

Apparently even the tiniest thing could delay ovulation a cold, a bit of stress, a house move (well that's not tiny but you know what I mean). And until you ovulate you won't get your period thats just a fact. Apparently the length of time from your last period and when you ovulate can really vary if something happens but once you have ovulated its 12 - 16 days later that you will get your period unless you fall pregnant even stress can't delay that bit.

I would stop stressing that you could be PG though. Ladies who don't realise that they're PG or tests are negative after period is late but are acctually PG are in the minority. If your getting negative PG tests and you have no PG symptoms I would put that to the back of your mind and carry on as normal. Don't worry about what your drinking and eating too much. If your really concerned then maybe don't drink too much and start taking a multi vitamin.

The way I saw it was if I was PG I'd be happy and if my period arrived I would be happy. It has to work itself out at some point doesn't it either you'll start getting kicks from inside or you'll get your period.
