Worried about not getting home birth

I've just had my second growth scan at 32 weeks and my baby is measuring on the bigger side. Apparently he should be about 4lbs but is about 4lb 15oz. I was really hoping that I would be signed back over to my midwife when I see the consultant tomorrow but I have to have another scan in less than 2 weeks. Apparently it's the tummy which is on the big side (on the top line of the scan graph) and if it is over the line next time I'll have a glucose tolerance test.

When I had my dd she was only 6lb 9oz so I was expecting everything to be the same this time round. Does anyone have any experience of this? Did it present any problems with having a home birth?

First baby 9lb 10oz (born in hosp) but wasn't turned down for big second baby (9lb) at home. As Loopy says, up to you where you have the baby. You have time to get hold of a copy of Your Birth Rights by Pat Thomas if you need help shouting your corner. It is a great source of info.

Hi, please do not take too much notice of scan weights...........with each of my babies it said they'd be around the 8 lbs mark, but they were all (apart from 1st dd who was 7lb.9oz)between 10lbs.8.5oz and 12lbs.9oz....so just goes to show!
With regards to home birth, you can insist as my midwife told me that she didn't want me to have home birth due to huge babies, but went on to say that I could insist on home birth should I wish to do that, but she strongly advised against it.
So if you decide on home delivery then you have the right to it, but please consider the pros and cons to be on the safe side. take care xx
