Help! Aspirin in pregnancy, how bad is it?

Had a STINKING headache when I got home from work, and rummage around the kitchen drawer to find some paracetamol. Took 2, went to bed. Headache soon gone. Only, this morning, found the packet at side of my bed and realised it wasn't paracetamol, but paracetamol and aspirin!!! Am now really worried as I was told not to take anything but paracetamol during pregnancy....

I wouldn't worry too much. Some women who are actually prescribed a low-dose of aspirin to prevent certain types of miscarriage, so I don't think it is likely to cause problems as a one-off. HTH

don't worry. I'm sure many pregnant women have made that mistake and have had no problems. In fact, my mother regularly took aspirin for headaches when she was pregnant with me.

Yes, I was prescribed low dose of Asprin after I miscarried with first pregnancy. Took low dose till about 6 months - at least I think. So for you, a one off small dose will be nothing, no worries there, you will fine. xx

I agree with Wolfgirl - I also take a low dose asprin every day so am sure that it's safe and no harm done!

When they make these recommendations it's often to be on the side of caution and stop people munching pills in big quantities to ease all these wonderful pregnancy symptoms!

Well I'll mention it to the Midwife, I'm due to see her tomorrow... problem is it sorted my headache out straight away whereas if I just take paracetamol it doesn't....

Maybe drink a little bit of caffienne when you take the paracetamol. It might make the paracetamol more effective.

This is because the three main ingredients of some headache drugs are: aspirin, paracetamol and caffiene.

I have had headaches with this pregnancy, you know the ones where you feel your brain is about to fall out when you pick anything up off the floor...
Was prescribed cocodemol by doctor and they seemed to work

My first pregnenacy was a bit off a surprise and i had been to 3 hen nights and 2 weddings and got slaughtered at all of them coupled with the neurophen taken the morning after. Not advocating heavy drinking during pregnancy at all just showing things can happen.....
