STRETCHING PAINS!!

Last monday I started to get which I nervously thought were period pains, this carried on for about a week somedays worse than others, each day i was expecting my period to arrive,They were not painful more like twinges, they were not in any one area generally just across my tummy, these have stopped now and thankfully no period! Even though I tested positive,EDD 5th March 2004 i've had no symptoms really so I still won't rest until I see that scan on Wednesday. Has anyone else had these pains is it stretching? how long did it last? and how many weeks were you?????

I had period type pains for weeks and they sent me running off the loo, in a blind panic, everytime!
I think the only other time we ever feel our womb muscles move is when we have our periods, so I always associate that feeling with the arrival of AF. The pains calmed down after about 12 weeks, and fortunately, so did I!

I also got numerous stretching pains as things went on. Now I'm 33 weeks and just ache all over!
Hope the scan goes well, take care

I had horrible stretching pains around 12 weeks or so that lasted a little over a week. They came back somewhere late in 2nd trimester, early in 3rd, but not as bad. They were all over my tummy, too. I also had general twinges throughout my pregnancy.

SKM - I had these too from about 8 weeks till 15 weeks and now they have started again at 30 weeks.
Apparently they are the uterus growing and the ligaments that hold the uterus in place.
Hope the scan goes OK.

SKM, when your uterus stretches the pain is from stretching of the round ligaments. As colinsmummy says, they are very common throughout the first trimester and again at about 15 weeks.

The pain can be crippling, but shows your sprog is growing like a mad thing!

I've been suffering from terible pains for the last 4 days and sick with worry took myself off to the doctors after 3 days off work. (am freelance so any day off work is a big deal!) The 20 min walk had me in tears it was so painful! Was told it was most likely stretching of ligaments and displacement of organs as have swollen bulges protruding above pubic bone .
Am 15 weeks tomorrow and hoping this is not going to last long as there seems to be no relief and can't get comfortable. Glad to hear its kind of normal as none of friends have suffered in same way and was seriously worried had ruptured something or other!

I have recently been experiencing the same feeling - and paniced too! Am releived to see that this is totally normal! I am now 17 weeks and can definately feel movement, I guess when the baby is awake. Also assume that the 'period type' pains are all to do with the massive changes inside. You'll be alreight sweetie.
