Extra scan at 35 weeks - but don't want to know the sex

My baby's breech so I'm having an extra ultra sound on Friday to confirm how big it is, amniotic fluid, etc. As they're clearly going to have a good look at it, I'm worried I'll see what sex he/she is, having spent all pregnancy not knowing. Is it likely I'll be able to tell? Or do I just need to not look at all. After all this time, I don't know that I can be disciplined enough not to peek... Sorry - trivial worry, I know, but...

Just explain you dont want to know the sex and ask them to turn the screen away when near the bottom area, and ask if they could just do a close up on the face then see the screen.

My aunt had a scan at 35 weeks and didnt want to know either and they made sure she didnt see anything!

Her baby wasn't breech they were checking if her placenta was low lying or something though.

I had a scans at about 37 and 38 weeks with DS who was having problems with not being big enough. I didn't want to know and really didn't have to try hard to not see. No one mentioned anything to me either.

Hi there, I don't think it will be a problem, I had one at 37 weeks (though I already knew the sex) to check the placenta and you really couldn't see anything as there was so little room in there. I think I vaguely could see a bum squashed up against the side (so I guess you will see the head only maybe?). If you say to them you don't want to find out acidentally they will steer clear or tell you to look away if they are anywhere near the genital - though I really don't think theer is enough room to see them at that stage?

when I had my extra scan at 36 weeks sonographer asked if we knew the sex and I said no but if she could see I would not mind knowing - dd2 did not reveal a thing - bless her. She had her hands clutched firmly in the groin area - nothing to see at all. I know the sonographer will try not to reveal it if you don't want to know.

I had scans all the way through my pregnancy, right up to the day before having ds. I just told them that I didn't want to know the sex.

I had a scan at 39 weeks, and didn't know sex. I had this worry too, But it's really hard to see anything at all. The baby is too big and they are just looking at parts of the baby. I never said anything at the scan but after i said "phew I thought i might accidently see the sex" and sonographer said, "did you want to know" and I said "no".
But you wouldn't want them to accidently tell you, so maybe say you don't know.
Good luck

I had an extra scan with DS3 to see if he was breech. Told sonographer didn't want to know sex so she said she'd tell me when not to look. She placed scan thing on my bump and,OOPS there on the screen, as plain as day was a willy and a pair of balls.

Oh, Megalegs, that has made me laugh. Sounds as though it shouldn't be a problem though. Thanks for replies!

I had a scan at 37 weeks and told the sonographer I didn't want to know the sex. She turned the screen away so I couldn't see it! Think it must have been obvious DS was a boy

Another one here who had lots of late scans -we didn't know or want to know and the sonographers always asked if we knew.

Mind you, we were convinced we were having a boy so maybe at 37 weeks we should have worked out that we were having a girl as we hadn't seen anythign !

Yes do tell them from the off as I had a scan at 32 wks and we were not going to find out as dp wanted a surprise. Let's just say however it was dead obvious that it was a boy..
