Hi all,

This is my very first mumsnet post, so hello

wave

I'm 18 weeks and have the most terrible backache - low down. I'm okay when I'm still but when I want to move anywhere my word does it hurt!

Should I be worried? My MW hasn't told me who to contact should I have a problem or a worry outside the hours of 9 to 5 Monday to Friday...

Ta!

Hello, if your backache is terrible then I would suggest calling your GP because it could be a wee infection ( although that is normally higher up) or maybe it is a ligament problem that a phsio could help with. You would prob need a gp referral for a physio. Either way it is not normal to have severe backache at this stage of pregnancy so although it is probably not affecting the baby it is worth getting it seen to.

Thanks maxbear - so typical I get this on a Bank Holiday though! Will see how I go on for the rest of the day.

Hello! Have you tried a warm hot water bottle against your lower back? I find it really helps me. Either that or one of those wheat bags you put in the microwave.

I know we prefer not to take anything but you could take some paracetamol if its really bad or even some codeine?
