Braxton Hicks in low abdomen at 22 wks - is this ok?

I'm getting quite a lot of BHs right in my low abdomen in the evenings, esp. after busy, active, on my feet days. Prev. I've had felt them like tightenings in the top of my bump but not this low down. At my last m/w appt I'd been having abdominal pain and she said something about the poss. of it being an irritable uterus and said it was normal in 4th pregnancies. Any ideas? Or am I just being a little over-anxious?

I would say it was normal, I felt BH from early on in all my pregnancies but if you're worried then give your midwife a ring or labour ward. I used to get more after doing a lot so I would try to rest a bit more if I were you.

I had BH from early in my 4th pregnancy - everything was fine.

I had BH from about 12 weeks in my first pregnancy, they worried me so much, and went into hospital a couple of times. There was absolutely no problem.

I have since found out that the cause could have been the fact that I was dehydrated during the pregnancy, due to morning sickness, and this would have increased the concentration of hormones in my blood, causing the BHs.

I certainly had this, cupcakes. 13 weeks on everything seems to be fine although my uterus certainly feels irritable...

I had them all over, probably more the lower abdomen as I carry low. The whole thing just started hardening up unpleasantly, I think as early as 16/17 weeks.

Hi cupcakes

I am 21/22 weeks pregnant with dc3 and have had braxton hicks for a good while now, they are quite low down but I am presuming uterus has not quite expanded to above belly button yet and that accounts for it feeling very low.

I was also told I had an ittitable uterus in both my other pregnancies, (always think that sounds hilarious), but sometimes even just giving the bump a rub will make it go all tight!!! Have always been assured this is ok.

normal.. as long as no fluid/ blood loss

make sure you are not getting dehydrated, that can cause braxtons....
