9 weeks gone struggling cope with 18 month and stepkids

Found out I was expecting about 3 weeks ago il be around maybe 9 weeks by now it's all very hush hush right now incase of complications. I already have a very active 18 month old boy from a previous relationship who my fiancé has taken on as his own due to an absent biological father.

Pregnancy with my first was emotional draining due to being in a mentally abusive relationship at the time but physically I can't remember feeling this bad. I'm really struggling already with sickness and nausea.

I'm constantly feel ill I've let the house work slip majorly it's a big house and there's 3 kids under 8 living in it so you can imagine the state. I had keytones in my urine when I went to doctors about a kidney infection and was told that I need to start eating.

I'm struggling to find the ability to eat in fear il vomit again which has happened a lot when I do eat. I have no recollection of pregnancy feeling anything like this could it be something else going on not just morning sickness?

It's making me really unhappy about the pregnancy feeling like this to the point I'm queastioning if I can cope for the remaining months and when the baby is here. My doubts are upsetting my partner as he wants the baby and was very happy where as I'm not. ConfusedSad

If you're not eating you will feel rough, easier said than done though when you've got bad morning sickness! My SIL had it and she couldn't keep water down! It has eased off a bit for her though and I think she's eating bits. Have you seen a midwife or GP yet? Your iron is probably low too which makes you feel terribly wazzy.

Hey, it sounds like it could be a bit more than morning sickness. Get yourself onto the hyperemesis support thread on the pregnancy board.

Sickness in pregnancy sucks, and you are going to need to worry less about your house and focus on managing to eat. I survived on apples, cocopops and coca-cola for months as that was all I could keep down. It's important to lower your urine ketones. Did your doctor discuss anti-sickness medication with you? There's options out there.

Good luck, and I hope it gets better soon. Smile

Every pregnancy is different - I'm expecting my second and have been hit by sickness way worse than with my first. And around 9 weeks can often be the very worst of it. So at this stage I would say probably just a bad case of morning sickness and hopefully you'll be over the worst soon.

If you're struggling to keep any food or fluids down, or just really miserable, then get back to the GP and ask them to prescribe you some anti-nausea meds.

And for now just let standards slip - if the house is a mess and the kids are living on TV and chicken nuggets it's fine! Do what you have to do to get through. Is your partner understanding and supportive?

Early pregnancy can also be a really rough time emotionally - hormones are all over the place and feeling a bit blue can be common (even before you add in the misery of tiredness and sickness).

I'd say get back to the GP, get your ketones checked again and see if you can get some anti-nausea medication, and see how you feel in a week or two. Most people improve towards the end of the first trimester, hang on in there.

Hello I'm pregnant with my 5th my oldest is only 7 and my youngest 20months. I too had very bad sickness in the begniing and it was so tiring running around after kids, keeping the house going and being pregnant! My partner works full time so I'm home alone most of the day. I'm 33wks now and I'm so tired the last few days so I drop the kids off at school come home and have my toddler running wild once he's having a nap I do as much house work as possible before the next school run. I have no advice to help you really. But you will get there

Sorry you're not feeling great - can I suggest you join the hyperemesis thread on the pregnancy board? They were great throughout my pregnancy.

Can your partner get out of the trip or is there anyone else to help? It's really not fair (or safe) you being expected to look after all the kids when you're so unwell yourself.

I think you really need as much help as you can get. How long did they say to wait before going back again? It sounds like you should be in hospital to me but I don't know that much about hyperemesis ( thankfully)!
