Can Braxton Hicks feel like period pains?

I'm 36 weeks with ds2 and have been having mild period type pains on and off at the bottom of my bump for a few weeks. I haven't had the 'tightening', 'belly goes all hard' like everyone else describes Braxton Hick's as being, either in this pregnancy or the last. Is this just my version of them?

Doesn't sound like BHs to me. BH's are contractions.. just practices ones.. so the stomach does tighten and you are usually aware of this, although I think there might be some variation from this feeling among larger ladies. Not sure though. (Haven't done a big enough "survey"! )

And BHs affect the whole bump IME.

I think they could just be your version of nraxton hicks or it could be effacement which is more about your cervix and doesn't need to have the tighteneing

I think, don't quote me

I think it's fone though whichever it is

sorry if I'm no help but at least I bumped it

So what are these pains then? And does the lack of Braxton Hicks mean mmy body will be less ready for labour??

I'm also 36 wks, with my first, and I know just what you're talking about. Cramping at bottom of bump is just what I've been having for a few weeks. Sometimes I can go for four or five days without it, and sometimes its two or three times a day. Feels just like period pain. I've not had anything like what people describe as BH. I've kind of been ignoring it since it doesnt feel like anything major!

I have had that too and I am 28 weeks, didnt think too much of it. I have had a little bit of old blood which my midwife said was something to do with changes in the cervix so I put it all down to that. I have been having BH as well, for quite a few weeks
