Hello all

I've got a month to go and am getting a bit overwhelmed with DS (2) and all the preparation for the LO. I need a break but with bad SPD going away - or even going to a spa etc for a day - is difficult. Relaxing at home is hard because I keep fiddling around with sorting drawers etc, although nesting instinct didn't bother me last time, I'm doing a fair amount this time... any tips on what to do to wind down and not get distracted with other things... food usually does it for me, but even cooking seems too much effort now.

am looking for inspiration for finest loafing

aw - SPD is a bugger - i found floating (well being wedged actually) in the bath was bliss ... loads of bubbles and candles and trash mags (chocolate optional) -
Get a masseuse to come to your house - take the phone off the hook and someone to look after your LO ... you won't regret it!

Hello there!
Wish I had some bright ideas (never been in your situation, fingers crossed I'm following in your footsteps though) - but just wanted to say hello and I hope you're coping ok.
I think if it were me I'd think of going to parents or someone else who might look after your older child, while you catch up with reading etc on sofa/in bed - but that does depend on having parents who will help out

no advice just sympathy...at 38+4 myself and with ba 19 month old toddler I am in exactly the same position. DH works a bit from home so is out daily from 6am-7/8pm so basically I care for dd all day iykwim. Its hard work!! I take advantage of quiet time at night and dh helping out at w/e. LOL this w/e he has done alot as I really am past being able to help etc and get so tired...think he's glad to be in work this week for a rest . Think he's just realising how hard it is with dd esp as I am no longer driving and can't walk anywhere with dd mainly because I tire easily and also because I also have spd and sciatica and fear dd when she has a tantrum as I can't deal with her as easily when she is rolling on the floor iykiwm..!!!!

Lucikly dh is self emp and his contract finishes on fri which I am glad about as the last 2 months esp have been trying and very hard.

All I would say is to sleep if/when your ds does and tbh try and do bare minimum although I know how hard it is.... I do have my mum on hand to help with dd but due to persona reasons this isn't an option for me although she does run me around etc. About meals....I started feeling like you do about a month ago...I find it helps buying ready meals....they dont have to be unhealthy iykwim and tbh it wont do any harm, well thats dh & i's view anyway. Simple meals are also ideal like grilled salmon. tbh i can't wait till i can go back to cooking my own meals from scratch..! on days i can be bothered to cook i do extra for dd and freeze. hth. x

Have you got a birthing pool? Or can you get to a swimming pool with a hot tub? I found being in my birthing pool when I was heavily pregnant very helpful indeed.

found swimming makes me feel better - attend lessons with dd2 - mother and toddler class..... and it is hot horrid summer here and dh went and bought a hammock yesterday - that slight rocking with a gentle breeze over me is fab - ok not ideal for an english winter HOWEVER much hilarity getting in and out of said hammock!!

I'm starting to feel exactly the same at 34 weeks! Still at work and frankly could just about deck anyone who annoys me! Just a thought - flotation tanks are amazing, especially if you have back/hip issues. i don't know if they're suitable for PG women but might be worth asking. Also, if you have any creative or artistic inclinations whatsoever, doing an absorbing little project might help you unwind. I'm planning on cross stitching a sampler for the nursery when i start mat leave - you could do do something like that, or sketch, or paint, or anything that occupies your mind enjoyably. best wishes.

I got a Bathrobics Pregnancy Pampering Spa kit for xmas and LOVE it. It a CD & comes with stretch mark cream, swollen foot gel etc.

Its like really easy stretching exercises (with relaxing music in background) that you do in & out of bath, and then a meditation you do in the bath (thinking of the baby etc). It might sound a bit new-agey, but if you light candles & incense, and take just 45 mins out, it feels like you spent an evening in a spa! I sound like I'm selling this but honestly, after a hard day at work I'm just DYING to get home and retreat into bathroom
