Pregnancy

10 weeks and symptoms gone ... (history of loss)

Hi, I have in the past had EP, MMC and MC.

I have DS age 6.

currently 10 weeks and had a private scan at 9 which showed heartbeat (although they didn't listen to it which I don't know is normal?).

I have been really anxious throughout this pregnancy but am having twinges the past few days and also boobs have gone down (not back to pre pregnancy but definitely gone down) and nausea (which was only ever mild and infrequent) has stopped.

I've asked midwife for an early scan but they said no...unless there was pain or bleeding and i wouldn't say what i have had is pain... just twinges.

I've already spent £100 on a scan and though DP says we should have another if it will reassure me i am almost too scared to incase it's bad news as then I know what i will have to deal with and it's so awful :(

NHS scan is on 30th

Well allegedly u start feeling better at 12 weeks although this is different for everyone so maybe ur just feeling a bit better a little earlier?

I know its hard to keep the faith when you have had a loss but if you have no bleeding or pain i would assume everything was ok however if a scan would make you feel better and you can afford it then it might be worth having one to put your mind at rest.

They dont usually listen to the heartbeat but something at the scan measures it if i remember rightly.

I think because when i had my MMC there was no bleeding or pain i don't really find that very reassuring. I just looked and i can't even get a private scan till april which is after my NHS one!!

I know pregnancy is an anxious time. i don't know how to reassure you, is there any other local places that do private scans?

I had an mmc too so i know how it feels! just try not to worry and hope for the best.

As i say with my next pregnancy i just suddenly felt better which was great.

Sounds like your problem is more that you're terrified of what you might discover. If you take time to really think about it, and if you really fear bad news, do you think you would benefit from time to prepare yourself between now and the 30th, rather than having a private scan (if you can locate one)? You poor thing, I wish I could help more.

No! I want to bury my head and not think about losing a 4th baby. I am so desperate for it to be ok

I also have a history of mmc so can fully appreciate why you are feeling apprehensive. If i was in your current situation I would pay for another private scan or go to the GP for an urgent referral to the epac. I have been extremely lucky to have a successful pregnancy after my losses but it wasn't without its worry. I had 2 early scans, 6 weeks (due to a heavy bleed) and 10 weeks (due to pain).
I really hope everything is ok and the symptoms fading is just because you are getting over the worst. Is there any chance you are actually closer to 12 weeks?

I spent the first 20 weeks of my pregnancy poking my boobs! They constantly came & went. It's quite normal for symptoms to come & go. After 3 losses, I was desperate for sickness to tell me everything was ok & then it came with a vengeance & I couldn't wait for it to go.
Have you googled 'Baby bond'? I had a private reassurance scan with them. It was in my local Mothercare which is weird but they were lovely. It cost £49 I think. I'm sure everything is ok if you saw heart beat at 9 weeks. The worrying doesn't go away I'm afraid but hopefully everything will work out for you this time.

iloveberries I'm in a similar situation to you.

I've got a ds who is 3 and I had a Mmc last year. Baby died at about 6 weeks (I had a huge gush of fluid and s bit of blood around that time. No pain at all), scan at 9 weeks (earliest one I could get) showed empty sac and I MC naturally at 11 weeks.

I'm now 11 weeks pregnant again. Felt shattered and practically permanently sick for weeks. Went off foods I normally like etc. Its now lifted. Boobs are a bit twitchy but ok. Had a dating scan at 8 weeks and heard a heartbeat.

Saw midwife on Wednesday and she wasn't concerned. Said symptoms normally lift at 12-16 weeks. But mine decreased last week when I was 10 weeks.

Have my 12 week scan next week so I guess I'll know more then.

My dh is telling me not to worry. I'm full of a cold and cough and feel more energised this week than I did 3 weeks ago HmmConfused

It's horrible playing the waiting game.

Best of luck - I can fully appreciate you being concerned. It may be worth you ringing the EPU and trying to get a scan, if you explain your concerns and history. (Sorry if you've already done this - I can't remember from your OP, and as I'm on my phone I can't go back and check).

it was my energy levels that perked too i went from never seeing 9.00pm for weeks to suddenly being able to be up all night. I think it's just par of the course. with my pregnancy after mmc i constantly referred to a document thats been posted in the forums about mc to make myself feel better as it had data on about seeing heartbeats and how the risk of mc dropped each week into pregnancy. might help you?

I started feeling better at 10 weeks as well and then randomly would get bouts of sickness cropping up now and then afterwards. Try not to worry Flowers

Try hard not to worry. I had three losses and am now 36 weeks.

The hospital has been fab every step of the way with me, I'm really surprised the EPU won't scan you based on your history. Can you self refer? Your anxiety levels alone should be enough for a higher level of care.

EPU say they won't see anyone without a GP referral and GP wouldn't refer me.

Such a battle!!

I have seen all the stats but having had an EP and a MMC after heartbeat at 7.5 I haven't had much luck with stats in the past!

sorry not much help berries. i dont know what else you can do other than wait it out which i know wont help your anxiety you poor thing. Where i am i just had to ring the epu if there was a problem and they would arrange a scan albeit that was after bleeding in both pregnancies at 9 weeks.

FranksBobot · 18/03/2016 16:29

Oh berries that's crap. Did the GP say why he wouldn't refer you? Is it maybe worth trying another?
My GP referred me due to my anxiety levels.

I really do hope it is just the pregnancy progressing as normal for you. I can remember going through similar and just dreading every trip to the bathroom. Nothing anybody says makes you feel any better and all you want is to have a scan and know for sure what is happening. Flowers

My symptoms came and went from around 10 weeks and I started to feel better ive got a little kicker now at 17 weeks. I think when you have a history of loss every little thing makes you worry though the rational part of me says twinges are normal, symptoms going/changing is normal, the other part is frantic with worry.

My big worry this time has been a smaller bump and no weight gain I know its all fine but in the quiet times I worry its a bad sign. I was the same with my first healthy pg worried constantly I even had spotting at 6 weeks and I thought I knew I was mc again then went for the scan to be told he was fine!

Thanks everyone. I am feeling a bit more "normal" today. Think it helps having DP and DS around at the wkend and rushing round for DS' activities!
