feeling guilty about eating my lunch! Should I of?

Hi ladies Smile
I am 12 weeks pregnant and today I was out with a friend and was absolutely starving, and without thinking I delved into fried chicken wings from the local kebab shop with chips and washed it down with a can of coke!
I am so guilty right now, the chicken was cooked but now I am googling so much and have seen on forums that fried chicken and cola should be avoided!
Riddled with guilt and hate myself at the moment but don't know if i'm being too overprotective of my bubs Sad

I really don't think you need to worry...step away from Google!! Smile

You're being overprotective. If you look up ANY food on Dr Google you'll hear horror stories I suspect.

If you want to be super safe, stick to the NHS guidelines, that's why they're there. Fried chicken is not on it!

Unless you're eating it every day, I wouldn't stress. And Coke is fine (in moderation).

No fried chicken?! The only thing I ate from weeks 7-11 was KFC Blush

Don't give it another thought. You have done nothing remotely wrong! enjoy your pregnancy. X

PS I once made myself physically sick after eating cold pizza then thinking it was awful. My baby is now 11months and unaffected by the pizza!

I've never heard of fried chicken being a problem in pregnancy; the only potential issue is food poisoning from undercooked meat, but you said it was well cooked so all is fine.

Coke is only a problem if you drink loads of it; apparently too much caffeine is bad (although I forget why). You can still have a bit though.

As a pp said, pretty much everything is dangerous in pregnancy if you believe everything you read on the internet. Smile

Chicken shop chicken and coke shouldn't really be had by anyone but it's not a pregnancy thing! Not to worry!

Eh? Where does it say fried chicken is an issue?

If it makes you feel better, I am 36 weeks and have eaten sushi, brie, rare steak, runny eggs and drunk tea throughout my pregnancy Smile

One can of the drink.
You didn't snort the powdered stuff.
Stop worrying.
Maybe take the caffeine free version next time if you fancy the drink every day, though. Still...

Ah you ladies are fantastic Wink
I am being a little too overbearing aren't I when it comes to food in pregnancy?!
I did read that because fried chicken contains lots of salt it's bad for the baby. I do only have things like this as a treat! In fact, up to now I have been really good with what I have eaten!
I guess I can stop being so worried about my lunch now eh?!
