5 wks pregnant, when to go to the docs?

Hi
I am 5wks pregnant with my second child and thought there is no need to rush into going to the doctors as last time i remember not alot happened care wise until i was 12 wks. Anyway, i do feel slighly more tied than normal but no sickness as yet. I think it was around this time with my first that i started to feel abit sick. Anyway, i don't wnat to panic but waiting until an 11 wk scan seems a long way off away to me. Looking at other threads it seems that some people are having scans around 6 wks if they are concerned about their baby. Should I be worried or just wait until after crimbo to go to the docs as planned. I think i'm panicing abit as a friend recently had a 12 wk scan and her baby had died the previous week (when her sickness stopped!).

if you are not having pain or bleeding, there is no real reason to fear the worst, and unlikely a doctor would refer you to the EPU .

it is early to start feeling any symptoms , and not all women get sickness, even if they did in a previous pregnancy, and sometimes it starts later...or never starts at all..

if you went to the doc and they did refer you to the EPU, at this stage , a scan would show very little and a heartbeat is not usually detected until around 7 + weeks, so you would have more waiting......

you are very aware that things can go wrong, as they did for your friend, no reason to think the same will happen to you,

try to relax and stay calm, if you don;t feel sick, not necessarily a bad thing !

I would go asap just to get "in the system". But then our midwives are incredibly busy and I always wanted to get a booking in appointment and the nuchal scan all set up.

At my docs surgery, they say to go to the midwife not the doctor if you are pregnant. Maybe you could do that instead? If you're feeling a little bit scared, by all means go to doc and tell them. I've not heard of people having scans that early unless there has been problems with last pregnancy/history of miscarriage tbh. Also, my friend had no sickness with her first pregnance but loads 2nd time around, every pregnancy is different and it doesn't mean anything is wrong.

At least go get tested by the nurses. Then they can advise you what to do next

just let your doctor know and they will book you in for your first midwife app. you usually only have an early scan if they think there is a problem or you are having a bleed. as you prob know there is nothing you can do if a miscarriage is going to occur. i too suffered a missed miscarriage as it had died at 7 weeks but did not find out until my 11 week scan. but do not worry let nature run its course and be greatful if morning sickness has not hit you yet because it will! being tired is a good sign too.
