Pregnancy

33 weeks - how tired is normal?

I can sleep for 7-8 hours at night (with loo breaks and waking up each time I turn over, obvs) and still be knackered by 10am.

I'm 40, have a 5-y-o, but she's at school and I've just started my maternity leave (I'm self employed). Taking iron after bloods showed I had low hemoglobin etc. But I'm just so tired. Napping most days.

I realise this is a luxury a lot of women don't have. Pregnant mums with pre-schoolers, I take my hat off to you.

I am 33 weeks today and really struggling this time round.
I goto bed at 10.30 and apart from the odd child wake up, and trying to get comfortable etc I go through until 7.30am. I then get my other 3 children up but stay sitting in bed etc while they breakfast and get dressed. Stand up to do their hairs and then stand at the top of the stairs to supervise bag packing and cots etc and watch them walk out the door to meet the mother in law who walks them to school. I then stumble back into bed at 8.30 and sleep until 11 most days. Spend an hour or so slowly waking up and showering etc and eventually ready to face the day around 12! ( I work teaching children's musical theatre 2.30-8pm)
My iron this time has been higher than normal ( im always low in pregnancy and need iron infusions etc) but this time it is quite high.
But oh my god I feel shattered all of the time. So pleased I have finished for half term now and get a week off work. ( just the 3 kids and a husband to entertain!)

Wow, I can't imagine having three kids and being pregnant! Sounds like you have a good routine though, staying in bed til 11 sounds bloody great. I do the school run (one child, and school is 5 mins walk) but am exhausted when I get home! Usually have a 1-2 hour nap during the day. Am trying to sort the house out before baby arrives but the time goes so fast til 3pm!

I'm 33 wks too and feeling good. Fairly energetic. I'd say it's a combination of low iron and disrupted sleep for you.
