Yet more gore from me today, I just went to the loo (with a sudden urge to do more than a wee - sorry!) and there was a weird feeling, a bit like something popping and then there was some liquid. I don't want to panic myself as perhaps it was something to do with the upset tummy! To be honest I don't know.

I have just sorted myself out with a pad and will keep an eye out for other obvious stuff - but I am not getting any pains at the moment, so what should I be doing now?

Any advice would be great - and apologies for the gory detail!

if your worried at all or if the pain comes back go straight in to hospital as you might be in slow labour
dont make the same mistake as i did fobbing the pains of as bracton hicks only to find out when i was rushed in and had my waters broke i was in labour and already starting to dialate
the feeling you need to poo i had the samething was told its the baby moving into posistion ready for the birth

Call your doctor, first of all!

He/she will probably want you to come in. There's a very simple test they do to determine if your water has in fact broken. If so, they will want you to deliver within 48 hours, if not sooner, because of the risk of infection.

How far along are you?

This happened with both of mine. The first was at 36 weeks. I ended up being induced (because I didn't go into labour), and she was born 44 hours after my water broke. With the second it was almost 40 weeks. I started getting contractions about 2 hours later, and she was born 4 hours after that.

I am currently 40 weeks + 4 days. I'm not getting any pains at all at the moment, I realise that these can come at any time though so I am not feeling as chilled as I may be coming across!

def, call your maternity ward and explain that you think your waters have broken. They will probably ask you to go in now. That is what happened when mine went.

mind libb i didnt get pains as they described labour pains funny enough they werent like the bracton hicks either i got it all in the back

I think you may be right, there was some pinkish colouring when I went to the loo just now. Heyho, I've been griping about being late and now it may be kicking off I am suddenly concerned the house is a mess for the first time since being on maternity leave!

I've just phoned and they said to see if the pad gets wet over the next hour - I would've posted sooner but DP started playing an on-line pool game whilst I was on the phone?!

nothing sweet about it i remember how bl**dy painful labour was i thik it was only the pain that stopped me from passing out lol

libb tbh I would just relax and get some rest, you don't know how long your labour will be better stock up now! If you start getting contractions and are in established labour then is the time to phone and go in, until then you might as well sleep! Is this your first?

Yes it is - some aches are starting to kick in now but I won't start rushing about just yet. Do you think a bath will be okay? I feel all scuzzy as I only had a thorough wash before finishing the nursery furniture today!

not sure about a bath if waters are broken - can you have a shower? I know it will be hard to fall asleep if this is your first but please please try as it could make a real difference to the way your labour goes. You will probably wake up with contractions but feel revived.best of luck - take it easy and try to relax - i'm sure thats what helped me to have quick and quite enjoyable births!

sorry mummytojames I've just contradicted you on the bath thing! It might fine I just don't know as both my babies were born in their waters!

because the warter aint gushing her water havet broken compleatly she will be fine was told this by the hospital funny enough that was there first words was to take a bath but dont use anything in it expecialy perfumed plus where you relax in the bath it brings the labour on quicker because the muscles are relaxed

thanks - now i know not that I will ever go through it again !!!(hope) Yes baths very relaxing both mine within minutes of being born in bath I stayed in to long !! hope you are snoozing now libb!!! hope all goes well, look forward to announcment!
