I need some advice! I am currently pregnant with my first and the pregnancy was a bit of a surprise, so I am still living at home with my parents in a very very small house at the age of 23. Me and my partner were saving to go travelling so we are lucky in the fact we have some money saved so decided to look into part rent part buy. There aren't THAT many properties (I live in South East in a sought after area so very expensive) so our options are a bit limited. We have looked at a couple of flats, and have found one be both like - it's only real downfall is that it is on the second floor. What makes my situation a bit harder is that I have a lot more things to consider as I am actually visually impaired - the location of this property is great, as it has good transport links, next door to a nursery, walkable distance to town and shops ( I cannot drive) however the struggle of the stairs worries me. It's not the visual impairment so much that worries me but the getting everything up and down 2 flights of stairs ever day?! Is it really plausible? I feel I am more than capable of doing it and that it's a compromise I'm going to have to make to live somewhere that is good in every other aspect. Maybe someone else has some experience of living in a flat, with no lift and how and if thy coped. My baby is due in March and I really want to get a move on because I do not want to be living at home when baby comes!! Sorry for such an essay, thank you in advance for any replies xx

Is your worry for you being visually impaired or for having a baby there?

I can't advise on the visual impairment I'm afraid as I have no experience. I lived in a first floor flat with a baby though. The pram was left at the bottom of the stairs and baby was carried until she was old enough to use stairs herself. Not one issue ever with that.

Good luck and I hope you get something sorted soon.

Hi, I live in a second floor flat and my daughter is now 14 weeks old and so far from a getting her up and down the stairs point of view It is fine. We get all our food shopping delivered via online and they bring it into The flat so that is great! We don't have a lift either. I am sure you will make it work! Good luck!
