Baby's heart rate

I ended up at maternity assessment last night due to a small bleed. Got checked out, no active bleeding, got a shot of anti-d and sent home. All good.

The midwife used the doppler to find the heart beat, took a while as baby was really low down. HB was 133. Seemed fine. She wasn't worried.

Since getting home I've read my notes and last check baby's heartbeat was 150. So it's dropped.

Should I worry?

I don't think so, there is always some fluctuation anyway depending on if your baby is resting or active, just as yours would change depending upon what you are doing. Also AFAIK their heart rates are faster the smaller they are.

Hi Junosmum I asked my midwife the question about heart rates and she said that its preferred that they vary as it shows that they rest/are active so would try not to worry too much.

I'm literally just out of hospital after a week and a baby's heartbeat varies between 110-160 bpm my baby some days sat at 170 and then dropped to 120 withing minutes it's normal aslong as its within range. If you baby is particularly active on the ctg machine it's heart rate will be higher just like if u were doing exercise your heart beats faster so on a day where baby is more calm the heartbeat does be lower

Hope that helps

I had the same concerns a few months back. My babys had always been around 150 and then one particular day is was recorded as 126. I only saw it in my notes after and drove myself crazy all night. Called my midwife the next day and they said it was completely normal.
I actually went on to buy a doppler (naughty I know but I genuinely think it's what has kept me sane this pregnancy) and the baby's heartbeat is always between 125-160! It varies depending on time of day and how active baby is etc.
Please don't stress yourself out over it x

I was hooked up to a monitor at the end of last week due to high BP and baby's heartbeat varied hugely over time between 120 and 170, so you're readings sound perfectly normal. I wouldn't worry x
