The books lied!

I'm 14 weeks now and still feel rotten with nausea most days. Was actually sick for the first time with morning sickness at week 13. All the books say I should be feeling better. Is this normal

I was sick until 21 weeks projectile vomiting everyday and was on two sickness tablets to help me curb it a bit. I'm 27 weeks now and still have the odd nausea and vomiting but hit as bad.

Hate to break it to you, but at 35 weeks I'm still waiting for the 2nd trimester glow. It's all a big fat con to get you through the first sucky trimester....

My sickness stopped at 21 weeks, it's been replaced with indigestion

For many women the sickness does start to ease off at the start of the 2nd trimester.

Unfortunately for me I'm 34 weeks and still very sick indeed. I stopped believing the doctor when he told me I would feel better at 12 weeks, then 16, then 20, 28.... I was exactly the same in my first pregnancy. I know damn well I'm going to be vomiting right up until and during labour. The lying bastard Wink

Bastard books lie about loads of stuff. And leave out the rest. Pah.

Lol I kind of thought so. I just count my blessings that I've only been sick once rather than every day. But seriously, this baby better damn well be cute!

I'm 34 weeks and I'm still sick as a dog. :) sorry!

The glow is a myth, I tell you! Or maybe it was those ten days around the second trimester when I was only puking twice a day and before I developed terrible spd and Alien-grade acid indigestion..? Yes, must have been those days...

Sympathies. It does suck.

There's a great hyperemesis thread on here which has been a great help to me. If it gets bad, go see your doctor.

Don't bother with the baby books either. They're full of bullshit too Grin

Oh. Books lie from pre conception to teenaged years.

I hope you feel better soon x

Sick multiple times a day even with various prescription anti sickness tablets up until about 33 weeks. Horrendous. Feel better at 37 weeks now than I have for the past 7 months! For some it doesn't get better I'm afraid but at least it's only for a maximum of 9 months!

I think you may possibly have skipped past the word "usually" in those books OP. Sounds crap though. Here's hoping that you're one of the women who shrugs it off a bit later on.

Mine stopped at 15 weeks. There is still hope!

Don't believe the books, or the midwives/ health visitors, you have to pick and choose. A lesson learned from my first pregnancy!

Saying that, the probability is that it may stop soon. Fingers crossed :)

The books are meant as a very very very loose guideline. I had hg until 18 weeks with my DD, my twins and this pregnancy (currently 36 weeks) all though that being said I've known people have morning sickness the whole way through and people whove not had morning sickness at all lucky bitches. I think if you go by everything the book says you'll go mad. Every pregnancy is different as is every woman and every baby. If we all came out 7lb 4oz at 40 weeks it would be pretty boring. Let it happen (I know its miserable) and good luck xx

I barfed all the way through with two out of three. Never managed a 'glow' with any of them. It's all propaganda designed to brainwash women into believing that motherhood is their one true destiny, and everything will be soft focus with a golden aura.
It's mostly grim. But you get through it. 'Normal' is a moveable feast.

I was sick up until the birth and labour started with me being more sick than I have ever been in my life!!
The problem is that no one gives the pregnancy or baby books to the babies to read Wink
Hope you are feeling better soon.

As a contradiction my first 2 pregnancies no morning sickness, mc. Dd nausea before I even missed my period until around week 22/23. It does mean the hormones are working and remember even if its the whole pregnancy it won't last forever.
