Pregnancy

I can't cope with the dreams...

Basically from conception, I suffer every single night with horrible dreams, mostly nightmares.. It can be something simple like my DH cheating on me (we have no trust issues/or significant relationship issues in RL I must point out) but then really nasty dreams. I had a dream last night that my house was full of little girls who were throwing themselves out of my 2nd floor windows and there was nothing I could do to stop them. I would look out the window and they would be on the floor. I woke up crying my eyes out at 3am this morning. There have been dreams worse than this too which even upset me to think about. It's disturbing my sleep and I spend the first half of the day upset/disturbed by my dreams and I am constantly exhausted from the sleep disruption. I am completely genuine when I say that I don't get one night's rest from it.

I read romantic comedies before bed/watch light hearted tv. I don't eat cheese (I don't even know if this is just something my granny would say!!), I cant drink hot drinks during this pregnancy so it's mostly sugar free squash or water at my bedside.

I don't think there will really be any answer to this but I wondered if anybody else had suffered from this and if there was any sort of tips or advice? It is affecting my day to day life and I dread going to sleep but at the same time, I feel like it's not a serious issue.. not as if it is posing any threat to baby or my health!

yep I have to say the vivid dreams are the worst part of pregnancy for me.
I have 3 other children and keep having nightmares about them getting hurt and i wake up and my heart and chest are physically hurting and i get really shaken up. It makes me dread going to sleep sometimes.
It is natural, and your mind is just trying to make sense of your deepest fears for when the baby arrives and unfortunately there is nothing that can be done as far as i know.
They will go when the baby arrives. How long do you have left? x

I'm 6 weeks today and can't stop dreaming about having a miscarriage. My last pregnancy ended at around 10 weeks so it's at the back of my mind, but the dreams aren't realistic to how it was and more a "Hollywood" representation. Like we're in some sort of rom com and suddenly I bleed a tiny bit so we all go to hospital and a George Clooney says "it's bad news I'm afraid" and I cry a single tear down my cheek and then we're all back in the Cheers bar having a jolly. Very disturbing.

Or another night I basically dreamed the entirety of The Shining but with me and DH as the characters. I've seen that film once, maybe 10 years ago!?

But I have had vivid dreams every night since i got pregnant. It's so weird.

So sorry about your mc Toes - just try to take reassurance that lone mc's are much more common than recurrent miscarriages. the odds are in your favour for a healthy pregnancy this time round. I also have my toes and fingers crossed for you!

It is very strange, the mind is so weird! I also have dreams that my DS gets hurt too Queen

I am 22+1, only another 18 weeks of this.... How about you?

Hope they die down for us all Flowers

I'm having crazy dreams too. Someone started a thread about dreams the other day and they were having sex dreams. Oh I wish. I've had murder, someone pulling their intestines out in front of me, and the other night I dreamt my dad died locked in a room with Katie Price and someone from Corrie. I'm beginning to think I need therapy. I usually wake about 3am and then can't get back to sleep because I'm all wound up and heart is racing.

So totally feel your pain. Hopefully I'll get a sex dream soon!

I must confess I've had the odd sex dream!

God, yours sound as weird as mine, I sometimes wonder if DH thinks I am making them up they sound so far fetched!!

3am is the witching hour for me too! Then come time for work, I could sleep for a week!!

Sympathies. Wanna hear mine?

My (lovely, awesome in real life) DH putting our 1year old beautiful, beloved furry doggy (who we both think the world of) into the tumble dryer and killing her in the heat.

My mother anaesthetising me in a quackery of a hospital in a Malayasian village to forcefully cut my child out through a c section

My (dead and oh so beloved) grandparents inviting me to a party to poison me

My unborn child growing up and twisting out the fingernails of our dog till she bled to death.

DH getting a chainsaw to slice off my body parts in the night,

YUP. all that and much worse and much more.

May I just say my DH is awesome and wouldn't hurt a fly.

I had a dream about the migrant crisis last night. As well as people (thankfully alive) washing up on beaches, there was also loads of Lego. So we built houses out of Lego. Crisis solved.

You seem as messed up in your sleep as me focus!

You know the weird thing is, had a heated disagreement with DH last night and fell asleep into a deep sleep and no dreams whatsoever... what can I pick a fight with him over tonight?! I also have a pretty awesome DH on the whole.

Sorry I missed the 3am coffee break Queen definitely next time! Brew

Better idea than our countries leaders Frasras - I was expecting dreams about those poor children last night Sad - glad I was spared.

yep Autumn apparently so, some say hormones, some say it's your mind trying to make sense of your anxieties and anticipations for pregnancy/labour/parenting etc.

Ugh glad it's not just me. Woke up from a devastating dream early this a.m. and have felt heartbroken all day.

I actually can't bring myself to write it Sad although I did tell DH this morning. Definitely fits the subconscious-dealing-with-your-worst-fears pattern.

I generally have very vivid dreams anyway, but this one was so real, detailed, and has stuck with me so much. Urrrrgghh. Sad

I had this in the early part of my pregnancy, but thankfully has passed a bit now. I did find that using a sleep meditation podcast helped. I think they send you into a more relaxed sleep
