recurring bacterial vaginosis when pregnant

I am 14 weeks and keep getting bv infections. I had a few before I was pregnant so I know what they are like. I get itchy down there and develop an odour. My partner seems to notice the odour more than I do. So far I have developed it 3 times this pregnancy and have used balance activ to get rid of it. However I just used it for 7 days and the itch and the odour are both still there. I keep telling my midwife but she doesn't even know anything about it! I have been told by other health professionals in the past that BV can cause miscarriage and premature labour. I really don't know what to do and I don't want to keep going to the nurse and waiting 7 days for a swab to come back each time whilst I wait for treatment. They also don't seem to see it as an urgent problem and they make me feel like I am making a fuss over nothing. I want to know what I can do at home to treat this and keep it away permanently. I am having a really hard time with it. Has anyone effectively managed their own BV with natural remedies?

I was prescribed an antibiotic vaginal pessary cream when I was 16 weeks by my doctor to treat BV. Turns out I didn't even have it as my swab came back as just thrush. It would have made more sense for them to swab me before prescribing I know ! Anyway they definitely can treat it at the doctors but you need to see your gp as the midwifes can't prescribe anything.

You need to see your gp. If you've been diagnosed before they may give you the antibiotics before the swab results come back.
