Pregnancy

I have so much work to do but I'm constantly exhausted. Is there anything that will help?

I'm between 5 and 6 weeks pregnant and I'm constantly exhausted. I have at least 10 hour sleep a night but after an hour of being awake I feel like I'm ready for another sleep.

For my job I have to write reports, and I have 4 to write by monday (not that long.. can do 2 a day and it should only take me a few hours over a couple of days). My only problem is that I'm far too tired to actually concentrate. I know it seems stupid because I've been scrolling down mumsnet but I find this easy to do when half asleep.

I feel like I need to drink a giant cup of coffee but I'm trying to cut out caffeine. I only ever drink extremely weak tea (teabag is dipped in and out so I basically drink warm milk) so that doesn't do anything for me. I don't want to risk drinking anything with too much caffeine in because I'm trying to play everything really safe during this pregnancy. I'm just not sure what I can take or do to wake myself up everything I do tends to drain any energy I have.

I just want to get my work done to relax without sitting at my computer and slipping into a small coma.

anyone have any advice to wake me up? except pouring a cold bucket of water over myself despite how tempting it is!

I'm the same. I'm absolutely shattered. Coming out of the fog a bit now but at six weeks I was shattered and sick.

I survived, just, by getting up and walking around every twenty minutes and taking frequent breaks. Set a timer for twenty minutes and just work thst. Then a break, and repeat.

And some caffeine is ok :)

I really don't think there's much you can do - the exhaustion is terrible at first. I felt like I was in a dream and slept for 11 hours straight at weekends. Have naps is my only advice!

Good luck x

Have that coffee Smile

I'm 19 weeks now, but couldn't stay awake for a whole day in the first 13 weeks. It does get better, I promise

Am 17 weeks and similar had to work late all this week, today was so tired and people said I looked exhausted, but I had a cup of coffee and a coke, first ones in 4 months. It made no difference whatso ever. All can suggest is a quick nap for ten mins or so just to refresh you?

Sorry, there is not a lot you can do, this is standard first trimester stuff. To put it in perspective your baby starts off as a group of cells and by the end of the first trimester is a couple of inches long. It grows faster now than any other time. Just pace yourself, nap if you can and go with it. You'll feel a bit more sprightly soon. X

I'm ten weeks and exhausted with interviews to do most days at work. I try to walk around every 20 mins and do nothing but rest evenings and weekends. If work knew perhaps they could make some adjustments? Hang on in there. We're doing the equivalent of a marathon a day I'm told. X
