I felt sick constantly from about 6 weeks until 14 weeks (ish) - like you, I couldn't bear to eat anything (apart from at lunchtimes for some reason!) - but I was actually only sick 4 times - I think I would have felt better if I had been sick more often! It does pass and looking on the bright side, I lost oer a stone during that time!!

Nikie1, poor you - I was nauseous for months in both my pregnancies (had hyperemesis with dd for a couple of months but nauseous most of the rest) and I used to actually look forward to being sick because the 5 minutes or so afterwards were just about the only time I didn't feel sick! I could only sleep sitting up because I felt marginally less sick than lying down.

There was a time when sniffing/sucking a lime helped - have you tried that? Some people find sucking ice easier than drinking water, and fizzy drinks (specially ice cold) easier than flat.
Above all, if you can force yourself to eat, do - it will help, honestly. And ignore any advice about what you should eat (eg avoiding fatty or spicy foods or junk food) - eat whatever you can face most easily.

Nikie, is food preparation a problem - ie does it make you feel so bad cooking that you then can't face the eating? When I started eating again after the hyperemesis the first thing I ate was instant noodles as that undercut this problem - normally they're not my idea of food but they helped me get back on track. Maybe stocking up with a variety of stuff, eg readymeals, that you think you might be able to eat at some point (even if not quite yet) would be useful as then you'd have it all available if you suddenly felt able to eat something.
Don't worry about the baby not getting enough - babies are very good at getting what they need. Do you have anyone to look after you, eg, to rush out and buy you a pack of beef flavour Hula Hoops if you suddenly decide you might be able to face it? If so you need to make them aware that their job is to provide food as quickly as possible before the food window shuts again!
Good luck.

Sickness often peaks at 10-12 weeks, Nikie, so actually it's good news it's now as the chances are it will go away soon
(I found a lot of the books said it stopped at 10-12 weeks, but it doesn't always.)

Nikie

Don't worry about the baby not getting enough - I worried about that but was reassured that babies will always get what they need and your body has enough supplies for the first 3 months anyway - if it helps, despite losing a stone and worrying that I had also starved my baby I went on to have a healthy boy weighing 7lb 14oz.

hope you can find something to eat soon - to echo what Kathy said, eat whatever you want - I always seemed to cravbe junk food when I could eat so had a few McD's etc during that time.

Was sick from 5-13 weeks at least once a day and nauseus all day. Am now nearly 16 weeks just had a check up and everything is fine. I found eating very little when I felt least nauseous the best but kept very little down and have lost 24 pounds since finding out I was pregnant. Nausea is a sign of a healthy pregnancy and from what I read at the time the baby gets all it requires from hormones and you have a yolk sac in early pregnancy. I worried constantly and still am but about different things! I'm afraid I also found that absolutely nothing helps just try to keep hydrated. It really sucks feeling like crap all the time and I hope it gets better for you.

I had hyperemesis from 6-20 weeks with both previous pregnancies and I felt very low and being hospitilsed twice did not help

I am now 4.3 weeks and it feels like the calm before the storm.I am going to book in for some reflexology this time as I realy dont want to go through it again. It has no bearing on your pregnancy and although its quite common knowledge on here that my last pregnancy ended with a stillbirth, it was unrelated. My first dd was nearly 8lb born and I weighed less full term than I did when I got pregnant, I lost so much weight.I stressed about her not getting the nutrients she needed but they are like parasites and they live off you!

I had constant nausea with second baby (girl). I found it was the food prep that did it. I had a toddler to make meals for and he only survived because local cafe did kids sandwiches for £1. I couldn't even face making a cheese sanwich most of the time. I ate allsorts there as long as I didn't have to make it.

I had a box of cream crackers in the car to nibble on, found that helped. Do try and eat even if it is nibbles, empty stomach can make you feel even worse.

nikie-my nausea lasted entire pregnancy-loads of sympathy for you.
The only solution for me was to virtually eat all the time, although i didnt want to it stopped that horrible feeling, also going to bed i propped myself up with a ton of cushions.

Feel so sorry for you nikie1... know exactly how you are feeling. I had the most vile, all consuming sickness/vomiting from week 5 to week 12 and lost a stone and a half.

Had my first scan when I was almost 13 weeks and just about kept the nausea at bay by then.

When things were at their worst I thought I would never eat food again. On bad days I couldn't even keep the water down. Trying the noodles is a good tip and something that I strangely remember having a couple of times and managing to eat a bit of. Also, try freezing cold fizzy water with a bit of lemon in it to take away the revolting taste that can often stay in your mouth for no reason.

I sympathise with the smell thing too. In fact my mum was so bad when she was pregnant with me she had to put the sofa out in the back garden because she couldn't even come downstairs due to its smell!!! Not quite sure if it was particularly smelly or whether it was the pregnancy!

Hope these words offer some comfort (you kindly gave me great words of advice/comfort b4 when I posted a thread on bleeding - thanks 4 that - still pg!!!)
