Can someone enlighten me as to the possible risks for a baby born at 36 weeks?

I have been having some fluid, growth, blood pressure and protein issues and the hospital are monitoring me daily with a view to bringing my ELCS forward by 2 weeks and 2 days.

Though I am of the opinion that due to my uterus now being somewhat 'hostile' baby is better off being montiored 24/7 on the outside in SCBU if she needs it rather than the inside when I am only monitored for roughly 40-60 minutes every 24 hours!

She has had steroids last 48 hours for lung maturity.

36 weeks is really not very early at all - only 2 weeks before you would be considered full term, so unlikely to be a big deal for your baby (although if she has had some issues on the inside, she may be slightly more vulnerable than she would otherwise be). Chances are she'll be fine. Good luck to you both!

DS was born by CS at 36+3 and weighed 6lb 15. His only problem was slight jaundice and he was too sleepy to feed. He couldn't bf and struggled to get enough from bottles either. He lost quite a lot of weight and took ages to regain but is now a very lively 2 year old.
Good luck with the safe arrival of your baby

Was going to say that my bang on 37 weeker was 8lb10 and completely healthy (we were home 36 hours later, after a c-section) but thoughts beats me on that one!

C section definitely going ahead tomorrow. First on the list (only one!). Doctors quite rightly informed me of possible complications in baby's health but felt it was very OTT at the same time! I was trying to be positive and upbeat and I don't think they picked up on that - I needed them to say "yes, these are the risks but also in many cases, baby is usually fine".
Keep being told respiratory problems, keeping warm, feeding issues and jaundice.
I do expect her to be in SCBU at least for a few hours for monitoring (estimated weight 5lbs 10oz) but I am trying to remain upbeat that she won't need breathing assistance!!
