Hello Sammer,

Yes when I was expecting ds2, brain cysts were also found. I think it's part of normal development and they will disappear. I think it's only a worry if the baby has an additional soft marker which possibly could indicate an chromosomal problem. My ds had an echogenic bowel as well as the brain cysts so my case was slightly different but both of these had disappeared by the time I had my next scan. If the hospital were worried they would definately send you off for further investigation. Try and not worry - everything will be fine.

We had the same with our ds who is now 2.5 and completely OK! They rescanned me at 24 weeks and they were gone. I still worried myself silly for the whole of the pregnancy after doing too much reading on the internet but as wools says unless there are other 'markers' they are perfectly normal and apparently occur in 1% of pregnancies. I mentioned it to the sonographer who scanned me for my current pregnancy and she said that at our hospital if they saw them now they would not even tell the parents as they are so common/so little to worry about. So please try not to worry and enjoy your pregnancy!
