UPPAbaby Vista v Silver Cross Pioneer - plus updates to Vista since 2012?

Biggest apologies for posting in the Pregnancy forum but have had no replies in the Pushchairs section! I think we have narrowed it down to the above two prams for our first baby, (due in December), but would love some advice from experienced users! DP and I are both tall and we don't drive so we will be navigating our way onto London buses and trains. We looked at the Bugaboo Bee which I have heard good things about but it didn't seem very robust, roomy or enclosed enough for a winter baby but I am happy to be contradicted by those more in-the-know!

One last thing: I have found a rare UPPAbaby Vista online in pink but I am assuming it will be a 2012 model since that seems to be when it was last manufactured in this colour. Have there been any significant changes to the Vista since then?

Many thanks, S

As a user of a Vista I'm not sure how you'd get on using public transportation exclusively with the buggy. It is virtually impossible to fold one handed and is big and bulky when it's down. I genuinely can't imagine having to hold my toddler and fold it at the same time. I suppose if you were flexible enough to be able to just get on another bus if necessary or wait until one became free with a space that would be okay. But I've actively avoided using buses since I got mine 18 months ago. Trains are fine because there's multiple places to use one but a bus would be a no go for me personally.

I don't have experience with the Pioneer I'm afraid so can't compare.

We have a 2010 Vista. It hasn't really changed that much over the years.

Please tell me which website as there is a dodgy website selling pushchairs. Don't want you to be scammed. I have ordered an uppababy from john Lewis and am looking forward to its arrival next week.

I use my vista on the bus regularly. I'd always be prepared to get off if a wheelchair user needed the space but I've never had a problem.

They are bringing out a new one I think. IIRC the new features allow it to be a double more easily.

I love my vista. Huge basket, great on all terrains. Bit big and heavy though.

We have a UppaBaby Cruz and we love it, I'd really recommend taking a look at it. Same big basket, same car seat compatibility but a whole lot lighter, more maneuverable and smaller so better for buses. Because it's so much lighter it was easy to use for DS until he was going on 2, then we got a Maclaren, but we've kept the Cruz and are just about to pull it out and dust it off for the eagerly awaited DC2. Going to get a buggy board for DS so he can hop on for the ride.

I love my vista - no pram regret at all! We luce in Central London and I'm in buses and tubes all day. It does have larger wheels that stick out further than most and is a bit heavier than others but I love the stability they both give. I'm not 100% sure about the models but I know the more recent ones can have an additional seat added to become a dbl which is a feature I would want.

I use my Vista all the time on the bus in central London. True fact: you can fit a Vista (sideways) AND a wheelchair into the wheelchair space on a London bus. The new routemasters are especially fab.
