First time fr me and five weeks today, I am so tired and am about to go into an all day workshop, I don't know how I am going to stay awake let alone participate, trying to avoid coffee too so the normal jump start for the day is missing too. If its this bad now, how bad is it going to get?? I have always had abit of a slump after meals at work but I just had a panini and now I'm feeling like if I put my head on the desk I would be out like a light. Noone at work knows and I am hoping not to tell til 12 weeks but I am normally the lively one at work so its going to be abit obvious .....

wish i could go back to bed

Yes I was like that with my 1st, I could of curled up and gone to sleep on the pavement on the way to work I was so tried. It got a bit better in the 2nd trimester then I was very tired in 3rd trimester. I'm afraid I didn't really find anything that helped, I just told people I was pregnant and most understood.

Hope you feel more awake soon. X

Hi Charlyp - this is a first time pregnancy for me as well and I completely understand about the tiredness thing and as trinity2 says I could have gone to sleep on the pavement!

I also work fulltime and found that hard to cope with, but I just found a quiet place at my work to sit down for a few minutes and read a book/have something to eat/close my eyes.

My tiredness lasted for about a month and then faded over a week, just say to yourself that it is only a few more weeks then you will feel better. I don't think there is anything you can really do to make yourself not tired, but try to sleep as much as you can.

Huge amount of sympathy for you it is horris isnt it!!
Is ther any chance that you could take some time off work?
I ended up only telling my boss and noone else that I was pregnant and had 2 weeks off to get my strength back.
It does get better so take all the time you need.
My DH said that he didnt see me for 3 months as I just worked and then went straight to be when I got home.
Look after yourself

Huge sympathy from me to - it literally crippled me. I ended up taking a couple of weeks of work, putting DD in nursery as normal and just sleeping. I feel a lot better for it.

I was also very aware of my diet and ate all the right sorts of iron rich and energy foods and lots of water.

Hope you're through it soon

I'm 6 weeks now and have found myself nodding off at my desk for the last week or so. It seems to come out of nowhere! Lots of sympathy, lets hope it eases up soon! x

oh and it doesn't help that it's not a 'sitting down' type job - I'm a care assistant - so lots of 'physical' stuff and on my feet the whole time eeek

yes - could be fun............

Mind you I've already told my manager and my supervisor - figured seen as though it's quite a 'phsyical' job and I could be tired that I should let them know early........at least will account for if I'm throwing up violently in a few weeks time and they think I shouldn't be a work as I'm going to pass the vomitting on to the residents LOL.

day 2 of the workshops and marginally lesst ired this morning - no panini!! just eggs and a sausage so maybe a low carb breakfast will help. Also have succumbed to a proper coffee but i figure one in the morning and one after lunch should be ok..... woke up really early - needed to pee so disrupted sleep but thats becoming the norm now, I don't seem to be able to get through the night without a pee at some point. Otherwise feeling ok. Hope everyone else is too. Roll on the weekend!!

I am six weeks, and the tiredness is really getting me as well as the nausea. I teach Y1, and have a Y1 age ds, so it's a bit relentless at the moment! When I had ds, I had a different job, and could take a break in the very very tired periods, but now... do you think that they will notice if I have a snooze during literacy?
