Anyone else overdue?!

As above. 40+5 with first baby. Some cramps and backache, but very sporadic and nothing today. No other signs. Midwife tomorrow, who will probably offer me a sweep. Anyone else?

I'm in a similar situation - 40+4 today, but absolutely so signs that this baby intends making an appearance any time soon! Already had two failed sweeps, and I'm getting really fed up now (extra grumpy today for some reason)! Local maternity unit is really busy and it looks as though I'll have to wait until 40+12 for an induction. At least someone else in in the same boat Smile even if we do want to get off!!

40w5d today.

Have had 4 sweeps since 39 weeks, lots of show and cramps but no labour!

Booked in for a section on Friday if no action before then.....

Wow! 4 sweeps LairyPoppins???? I'm only allowed 2 after 40w before they try an induction. Keeping my fingers crossed for you that labour starts for you before friday...!

It's a VBAC so they won't induce me as there is more risk of the scar rupturing. Also the baby is huge ( est 10 -11 lbs) so they were keen to get him going ASAP!

Oh goodness me, so I'd better not to be too optimistic about the sweep then! I was deliberating whether or not to do if - are there any risks? I heard that it reduces the chance of needing an induction, so has got to be worth it in that sense. How come you have had 2 already Ruby? I'll be a week over before I have one.

LairyPoppins, I think I'd be keen to get the little one out if he was 10lbs+ Smile I hope things happen naturally for you!

Ariel, I haven't actually had any successful sweeps yet! The midwife has tried twice and both times has said she was unable to actually perform the sweep. She also said that it was their policy to offer a sweep once we're full term - maybe it varies depending on where you are?

Just posted this in neighbouring thread for August babies....

I'm playing the waiting game, too.

I am 40+2 and until about four days ago had excruciating sciatica for a month which meant I couldn't walk anywhere. At least the scorching weather has calmed down.

Had a failed sweep last week then another 3 days later where midwife decided to pull my posterior cervix forward without warning me! I'm not ashamed to admit I screamed. But...had my show 24 hours later. Another (hopefully ordinary) sweep tomorrow.

I'm scarfing curry, pineapple, raspberry leaf etc plus bouncing on the gym ball and jumping on my husband at every opportunity. Poor man is starting to look scared.

I'm really, really keen to avoid induction, which is currently booked for this Friday but I'm hoping to bump to early next week.

Ruby, if you're keen for an earlier induction you might find slots open up as overdue mums go into natural labour - my midwife said to keep checking back with hospital if I wanted one sooner.

Thanks MintSource, the midwife told me today that there is a chance that the induction could be brought forward if other ladies have their babies earlier and therefore don't need their induction appointment. They won't bring it forward before 40+10 though, so next Tuesday at the earliest! Fingers crossed that this baby will get a move on of it's own accord!

Good luck!

Yes I suppose it probably depends on where you live, and possibly depending on how your pregnancy has been going - I.e. if baby is especially large! I just ate a whole pineapple and have been on my knees cleaning the lounge. If I could find a comfortable position I might try sex... Keep me posted ladies, I want some baby news!

I'm 40+4 and have a sweep tomorrow. I've been having some cramps for the last couple of weeks but no show.
I did have a feel of my cervix-can just reach it-and it feels soft. I'm hoping it'll happen by the weekend.
Induction isn't considered until 40+10 and you can't be booked in before then. Sad

Ariel, are you me? I had my sweep today-not very successful. I'll be on the induction list on weds as well! Got another sweep for Saturday and a provisional one for Monday. Fun fun fun!

I'm sorry to hear that Startwig. Hopefully things might start moving this weekend? I've been eating curry, bouncing on a ball and massaging my nipples!
