Get this baby out of me :(

40+1 today and no idea what I'm doing..
Dd was born at this gestation, induced as my waters had broken and labour hadent started. What are you meant to do with yourself?!

I literally feel like I'm waiting to give birth, I know it could be another two weeks, I don't really want to be moping around for that long, and obviously have 18mo dd to look after.

What does labour feel like?
Talk to me about getting this baby out naturally!

dp helpfully suggested sex last night, I laughed..

The best thing to do is the big cliche... just try not to think about it too much. Just keep moving. Keep sorting. Relax. Baby will be here before you know it!

As much time on your feet as you can bear.

That, and the timing being the biggest inconvenience you can imagine. So arrange something very important or special, and then sit back and watch it all go to hell Grin

I know exactly how you feel. I'm 40+5 today and so fed up! I feel like I'm just waiting for this baby to come out and not is happening. Oh, and I love the daily messages from everyone:"have you. Had the baby yet?"....errrr......yes, just decided to not tell anyone. I know they mean Wellbutrin it's frustrating. Ok, rant over. Hopefully not long to go now. Good luck OP xx

I feel for you Pj, I've only had two days worth of 'is the baby here?!' although I did send a very sarcy text to my brother yesterday telling him he would be the last one to know if he text me asking again!

Trying everything... But dd is doing my head in today, weird that I think hospital might be a nice break?!

God the daily messages are the worst. Mass reply: I WILL LET YOU KNOW WHEN I HAVE GIVEN BIRTH STOP HARASSING ME will work wonders Grin

Unbeknown to our families, dc2 is due in less than 2 weeks. They think it's four. Grin
We came up with this cunning plan after ds was super late and dmil and dsis kept fucking phoning and texting.

Start that is evil genius such a good plan! Grin
I'll be replying to texts with 'yes it's in the drawer upstairs. Thanks for reminding me about it'

Walk. And when you've finished walking, walk some more. Gravity is a wonderful thing! Good luck Smile

40+2 here and feeling exactly the same! Luckily I have more energy than I did last week so I've managed to keep myself busy most of today. It makes me feel better knowing I'm not the only one waiting (although don't want others suffering too...!) not long now, we'll get there soon!

Any babies yet? Wink
Still nothing here, although I'm fairly sure I woke up a few times last night convinced my waters had broken.... They hadent, I was just a bit hot Blush

Nope. I have a sweep at 3:30 today so I'm hoping that will get things going!

Do you mind telling me what it's like afterwards pj, I don't know anyone who's had one who can tell me what it's like.. If it's bloody awful I'd rather know! All I know is when I had internals during labour I needed gas and air, I doubt that will be an option in my docs !
Good luck!!!

I had 2 sweeps in the last 2 weeks - DS2 arrived yesterday at 41 weeks. They were uncomfortable and left me slightly painful inside afterwards, but not unbearable.

Okay, really gross question, how much of the mws hand actually goes inside you... I really feel like I need to know before I make a decision :/

It's mainly two fingers I think. I would say it's less painful than a smear test because they don't ratchet you open! I've had three attempts in the last week and they do get more painful as it all gets a bit tender, but they are definitely not unbearable - I just stare at the ceiling and do deep breathing!

(Oh, but then these weren't full sweeps as my cervix was closed, but they did have a good rummage!)

I've never had a smear test, too young! that makes me sound 12! two fingers I think I can handle.. In this weather isn't everything a bit smelly, I shower every morning and by 10 I'm already a sweaty mess, I suppose they are used to this? :/

Beany it's really not that bad and if they can't get their fingers in there easily enough then they tend not to bother as it's not worth it as shows the cervix isn't ready so the sweep wouldn't be worth it anyway.
I went to a breathing and relaxation class last night which suggested doing relaxing breathing and talking to the baby and telling them you are ready to meet them. Might sound a bit out there but anything is worth a go!

Well saw the midwife today yes, I'm still pregnant
She only works Thursday, so I'm 40+4, I said I didn't want a sweep, and whether or not we could book me in for an induction for the end of next week now, as the next time I see her il be 41+4 and it will be Thursday- so by the time I'm actually booked in for an induction il be 42+1 (the Monday!) she couldn't comprehend what I was saying.... I've got another appt next week where apparently we will 'discuss' the options!? There's no options that late, bloody induce me!!

no that's not right, in terms of optimal placental function
for the wee one they shouldn't let you go longer than 40+10 (or 12 in some places)

PJ12 · 31/07/2014 20:15

My sweep didn't work as the cervix isn't open. It wasn't painful, just uncomfortable. I will be having another try at a sweep on Sat but I'm not too hopeful. If nothing happens then I'm booked for an induction on Monday (I'll be 40+10).

PJ12 · 31/07/2014 20:16

Sorry, I meant to say I'll be 40+12.

40+15 seems to be way too far over to be safe, my mw just isn't listening that I don't want to let it get that far.. Happy to go the two weeks, not happy to go further, and that's the earliest I will be induced.. I assume it's not advised to just ring the hospital and say you've had some funny discharge/ weird movements and see if they just think 'fuck it' and induce? :/

40+15 does seem a bit far off. I thought you had to be induced by 40+14? Can you see another midwife? I think at this stage if you tell the hospital that you feel something is off they will induce you (I know my hospital does). What about having a sweep? It might get things moving.
